Trump shot at rally in Pennsylvania

If I'm reading this thread right, we've got people posting that think it's feasible that Trump engineered the whole thing 🤷
Meaning he managed to persuade the American secret service, who are highly professional federal employees, not his own people, to allow a gunman to be on a roof then trusted the gunman, a 20 year old with a gun he got as a present, to shoot him in the ear while on stage. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Some people are readily prepared to suspend disbelief because they are so desperate to believe it is true.

This is not uncommon.

What does ‘you’re not thinking like maga’ even mean
It’s a good point by ST tbf

A common mistake when people try and understand something is they think from their point of view.

All he is saying is we are not lunatics (😂) - some of them are.
It is almost impossible to know what goes on in their heads and what they might plot or not.

I’m not buying the ‘it’s staged’ bit btw

Thanks: you've definitely explained that more clearly and succinctly than I have been able to but that was kind of the point I was trying to get across.
Given how some MAGA talk and act, and how much this will help Trump my initial reaction was it must be staged. I admit that's looking less and less likely now mind.

Really?

I think that rather than US thinking like a MAGA, YOU need to think like a rational being. You were wrong and it's time to hold your hand up.
I stand by everything I have said about MAGA, how they think, the type of person Trump is and why I thought he could have orchestrated it all. That hasn't changed. They are the type of people who would think it was a good idea to stage this in order to gain power for the trump

Of course you do. You appear to subscribe to the internet think that to ever admit you were wrong is showing weakness. It isn't, it is the sign of possessing critical thinking skills and self awareness.
I don't at all. I'll happily admit when I'm wrong. You seem to be wanting to make it personal for some reason.

So just to be clear: It's seeming less and less likely as time goes on and more information comes out that this attack was staged. But, given how Trump is a power crazed psychopath, has supporters gun toting red necks and senior pro trump politicians are going round openly saying we should be killing people, I don't think it's a massive stretch to suspect it could have been staged. The mindset is certainly there from MAGA

With respect, even a basic understanding of the laws of physics tells you it simply couldn't be staged.

It may be that there's a story to be told around how the attack was planned and who was behind it, if it's not an obvious case of a 'lone wolf' scenario.

Seems he was spotted with a range finder initially but that should have been enough for them to do something, yet they didn’t.
A range finder is not a gun though, so he they didn't know "he was up there with a gun for 30 minutes before the shooting". Also, range finders are used by golfers for instance, so in and of itself it was not definitive evidence of any malicious intent.
