Trump ruled ineligible to run for President

Amazing news if this holds up, with all the Clarence Thomas stink atm I suspect they wanted to keep as much heat off themselves as possible.

Trump is going to go Nuclear now, I just hope this doesn't lead to mass disturbances in the states. This could still get ugly.

It’s an interesting development for sure but Colorado has been a blue state in Presidential elections for 20 years so of itself it doesn’t change the electoral “math”. It’s more likely to lead to yet more t*t for tat nonsense just as the overuse of impeachment has done.

Fingers crossed SCOTUS doesn't see fit to intervene.

And it's funny how the "patriots" who go on and on and on and on about the constitution suddenly want to overrule it now.

Most analyses I've read and heard posit that this will indeed end up being appealed to the SCOTUS. Whether they'll take it on though, is another question.

As stated in the Washington Post, for instance:

The decision is certain to be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, but it will be up to the justices to decide whether to take the case.

Trump disqualified from Colorado’s 2024 primary ballot

With a conservative 6-3 split on the top Supreme Court, this is likely to be overturned I would imagine, especially since 3 of them are Trump appointees.

Will provide more oxygen to his base too!

Doesn't take much for the MAGA loons to kick off - hopefully the timing of this, just before Xmas, may take the heat out of the situation ......for a bit. 😬

Three other states have already ruled the other way. A 4-3 split in a court entirely appointed by Democrats. It clearly will be overturned by the US Supreme Court. It will strengthen Trump by feeding his rhetoric that ‘they’re all out to get me’ and ‘I’m the victim here’.

While the judgement was made by a majority Democrat appointed board of justices, the case was actually brought by six Republicans:

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politi...'s highest court didn, highest one in the land.

The provision also says offices covered include senator, representative, electors of the president and vice president, and all others “under the United States,” but doesn’t name the presidency.

The state’s highest court didn’t agree, siding with attorneys for six Colorado Republican and unaffiliated voters who argued that it was nonsensical to imagine the framers of the amendment, fearful of former Confederates returning to power, would bar them from low-level offices but not the highest one in the land.

“You’d be saying a rebel who took up arms against the government couldn’t be a county sheriff, but could be the president,” attorney Jason Murray said in arguments before the court in early December.

I think that muddies the water a bit on the whole Democrat vs Republican issue, but I don't think America does nuance on this.

The key now is to see what other states follow suit as the precedent has been set and if others do follow the GOP might get nervous. Even if does go to SCOTUS it’s not a good look to be fighting in court esp when the evidence is so damning.

Well done Colorado.

Other states will definitely follow, not all of them but hopefully enough red states to force the GOP to dump Trump (and then he'll go to prison)
