Transfers......or lack of.

Not just at Boro, but across the whole of the Championship - not much happening. Waiting for PL teams to sort the squads to hit the loan market? Mental last week of the window? Never known things this quiet with two weeks to go before the season starts. Financial constraints really kicking in?

I hate the transfer window ending in August, near enough five weeks into our season. I don't see any reason for it to be so long, it just leads to delays and brinkmanship. The window should be open for about a fortnight to register your signings and be closed before the season starts.

Edit....

With the loan window open two weeks longer to allow young and unloved players to be moved on to get regular football.

it looks like some of the prem clubs are struggling to shift players out - deffo a log jam - they can sign anyone else till some have gone due to FFP, otherwise they could end up with some expensive duds.

spurs already have 2 right backs (royal & doherty) - and until one of them goes, the djed situation may not change.

like wise we cant bring anyone of significance in till the djed money is banked and we could still do with off-loading another 4 plyers.

i see sunlun bought jack clarke last night off spurs - i believe they paid leeds £10m for him (but that may have been with all the add ons kicking in)

According to the club, the Spence money is irrelevant.

Good or bad the league promotion race this season especially will be like the running of the grand national— thanks to FIFA.

Have we signed all those? - I've been trying to follow it on the club website, but hadn't seen any of them.

Transfers Out I've been following, but other than Howson we didn't seem to have signed too many?? - which is a little worrying with the season starting in just over a couple of weeks.

Also, what's happening with Spence? Looks like there isn't a queue to sign him after all, and Spurs are now just waiting until we're desperate.

Who have we signed, apart from Howson?

Does anyone have any knowledge as to what's going on with the Spence transfer?

Giles, Lenihan, Roberts (L2 keeper), meant to have Steffen in the bag (US international and Man City back up keeper).

Resigned Howson as you said.

Nothing concrete on Spence anywhere, seems to have gone a bit quieter than last week, I think Spurs are off in Korea though currently.

I'm not a fan of the transfer window at all, much preferred it in the days when you could sign players up until March (I think)

Back then you could shift a player on who wasn't wanted, now they have to wait around on wages until January, or from January to June.
As an example when Barmby left Boro, for whatever reason, he clearly didn't want to be here. Then we sold him, if that was now we'd have had a player stuck at the club on big wages

Transfer deadline day also is a bag of ****, absolutely Americanized. I think deliberately created for the TV drama, thinking people are going to be glued to the tv for the transfers to come in. When in fact if you watch it its an anti climax

I've been following it... but basically nothing has happened. All pretty underwhelming really. I thought I must have missed a bunch of signings... but it turns out I haven't!! :D:D
The signing of Lenihan is a very good one. He will be good for us I’m sure. Giles hopefully makes us more useful down the left in an attacking sense.

Hopefully Roberts is a good back up keeper, he looks the part and has done great for Northampton.
