Trade Deal with Japan

The Japan deal isn't signed. I wonder what they're thinking now having seen the attitude do international treaties and law Johnson and his squad have now shown. Their word is their bond in my experience. They won't like what they're seeing here from the self proclaimed brain of the universe or whatever he reckons he is.

It would be interesting to hear the reaction from our European neighbours if we said we'd changed our minds and wanted to rejoin 😁

Not a chance they'd have us back in the EU for at least a decade. In the Single Market, yes.

We could if they'd have us. If you were in their shoes you'd think at least twice. What's to stop us doing it all over again? And if we did we'd have to join the Euro (as far as I know) and we've also lost all those concessions and rebates, they're gone for good. Great job. As Trump would no doubt say.

We've lost the concessions and rebate, although the rebate in theory was going to end as the reforms we wanted to the CAP were delivered (which were in the pipeline). As for the Euro, we would have to commit to joining in principle, but we could avoid it in practice just as Sweden has, by continually not meeting the conditions for joining.

Scared?
Why would we need a second vote, we haven’t even enacted the first one. I’m sure if remain had won the referendum by the same result you wouldn’t chomping at the bit shouting “let’s do it again”

That would have been it. If we win tonight I doubt we’d offer to scratch the result and play tomorrow just for the craic

If we got a 40 point deduction and won a game, I'd be happy with the three points, but I'd probably try and rectify the situation that left us 40 points in the hole.

First time round we applied in 1961. It took 12 years before they'd have us, and that was when we could be trusted. Joined 1st Jan 1973 and referendum in 1975. There's no "Of Course" about it. We'd be as welcome as a fart in a space suit.

Only 6 could veto our application last time, it's 27 now.

We’ll probably start by agree to a Norway/Swiss trade deal and have to take what ever the EU decide. Then after a few years we’ll be invite to join again with conditions placed on us which got passed when we are on the outside.

Welcome back no but back never the less.

The way we're going it'll be 10 years before we have a ratified trade deal. I reckon you'd be looking at 25 years to rejoin and that would be with us voluntarily pulling our own pants down 😯
