Tory voters don’t deserve to be resuscitated

I find it odd that the far right, the bastions of free speech and libertarianism are so thin skinned.

Speaking as a lefty snowflake, I couldn't give a flying f*** if someone wished me dead due to how I voted.

It was the left that was always the bastion of free speech, and still is in my opinion. The far right have never been free speech advocates, but there are some on the right, not usually far right imo, jumping on the free speech bandwagon as part of the culture wars, this often involves dollops of hypocrisy of course.

Regardless, what she said is a stupid thing to say and does her argument no favours, she of course should have the right to say it but if she genuinely believes that then I think she’s a deplorable person and nursing maybe wasn’t the profession for her, even many of us can agree the tories are a nasty, shambolic party.

she was maybe, little over the top ,but they really are a despicable bunch of individuals,(tory politicians)i wouldnt pss on them if they were on fire tho🤣🤣,,i would have thought most people who voted tory in last election has realised they have made a big mistake by now though,we all make them

I’m alot more centrist than most on this board and in the past have flittered between the two main parties but completely agree with you. It does make me laugh.

I should really have written 'bastions of free speech' as I was being a tad facetious.

I assumed you were, but I felt it was a useful point to make. I really do feel free speech is an incredibly important right of a progressive society, but a very prominent downside is that various groups, often of political extremes, that would quash others free speech in a heartbeat are currently very adept at using it to their advantage.

There’s about of irony in the anger, the average age of a Tory voter is 75, which the tories would like to see the back of anyway.

They even tried during covid to get rid of them

TBF both Far L&R crack down on 'free' speech. It's only liberal free thinkers that can work with others & allow a conversation plus debate..

Remind me the time when the Daily Mail highlighted "fury" over comments (and there were many) that the authorities should sink the boats containing immigrants crossing the channel.

You won't be able to because it wouldn't be part of the Daily Mail's political agenda.

Agreed, the extremes of left and right are anti free speech. Plenty of room for healthy and constructive debate before you start to get to those extremes though.
