Tory Party Members on Here

I can’t vote as I spoiled my application to join on the same day I ran out of toilet paper.
 
My brother was up last weekend visiting as he’s based down south these days (Armed forces). Went for a few beers with him and his mate (who is a massive Tory).

His mate reckons the only reason The Tories lost the last election was because Sunak was leader. I laughed him out of the pub almost.

Blamed the media for the fall of Wurzel and Truss and apparently they were doing or would have done a great job.

I asked one thing that improved in the country in the 14 years in power. He couldn’t give me answer.

Just the usual “you’ll see how bad things can get under Labour”.

The absolute delusion and ignorance of some people astounds me.

EVERYTHING in the public domain that the previous government was responsible for got considerably worse during their 14 year time in office.

We all grew up Hemlington - we all benefited from Labour policies in the 90’s and early 2000’s.

He still lives there, and compared to a lot of his neighbours, he’s probably doing alright for himself. But he’s always worked and had an average salary job. He’s not a huge earner. He doesn’t live a lavish lifestyle by any means.

Later on in the night he was complaining about the trouble in and around his area, lack of police presence etc. NHS waiting lists, the usual stuff.

It’s what he’s voted for all his life. That’s what you sign up to voting Tory! Completely blinded by his allegiances to a Political party.

I just ended up taking a breath and going to the bar. Changed the subject when I got back.
 
It's not just 14 years though either.

Conservative neoliberal policies since the 80's have been a disaster for the people of Britain. The amount of wealth transferred from public to private is staggering. How normal people have continued voting for the cnuts is beyond me.

I'm reading a book written over a century ago. Most of the characters don't have two ha'pennies to rub together but won't have a word said against the system.
 
Watched Robert Jenrick on Politics Live at lunchtime. There’s an unhealthy desperation about his need to win this election and become party leader. Quite unhinged really. Be the perfect fit for the current right wing Tory party, and pull it further along in that direction.

The alternative is far worse if you ask me.

It’s bit like choosing which leg do you want to have amputated though….

Agree Aet, but at least the other one has been fairly consistent in her political stance and place…always been firmly on that wing part of the party.
Jenrick is a chancer starting with being Cameronite when that was required and wading through all the various political nuances of whoever would be in a position to advance his career. He is, like the old style Tories used to say, “A man completely lacking in bottom”
Just really…A shape shifting snake.

Oh come on that’s unfair, people coming in boats are to blame for most of that list amd of course the ones that aren’t the immigrants fault are stuff left over from the last Labour government.
