Tony Pulis

I really don't think it's that straightforward. A lot of the goals we've conceded this season have been a consequence of our insistence on playing this high risk/high reward style of football.

The Swansea and Burnley home games show that we can defend. Against Swansea we were happy to allow them to have the ball after going a goal up and we were able to keep our shape and discipline that day. We barely gave them a sniff. Against Burnley it was obvious we were making a conscious effort to take less risks and be more disciplined off the ball and we were able to keep a clean sheet.

P14 W8 D4 L2, scoring 27 goals from 20th Feb 2018 until end of season. 2ppg!

Errrrr yes please.

you can just select a period of games from carrick with the same and better records

and that was with a squad that came down from the premier lague

But we need this record at the same point of the season.

27 goals in 14 games was great fun. Flying in!

Not sure why you would compare Pulis against Carrick when he had twice the wage budget

Mind blowing to me there are some boro fans who think Pulis is a better manager than Carrick
I've never said he was better.

You made the comparison with your games won percentage and tried to imply that makes Carrick a better manager.

I'm just stating games won % isn't the right stat to use. Points per game is. That's what decides a table.

Do you reckon we could get him to come in as assistant to Carrick and get him to teach us how to organise a defence. Think our players and manager would benefit from defensive coaching course
i don't think Carrick will agree to 5 or 6 centre halves in the line up/coming on as sub

Not sure if anyone's done the stadium tour- but it was mentioned that the artifical grass warm up area within home dress room was installed at the direction of Pulis. Thought that was interesting

Yes, but you can't do maths very well can you, thats the issue?

Pulis points per game is 1.58 not 1.68

Carricks is 1.61 per game

I’d give Pulis a 6.5 year contract. Long term plan. Promotion expected by end of year 5. With a clause that if he is sacked before year 4 we have to abolish the club.

This is a rubbish idea.

But I would definitely go for Scott Parker next year. Burnley will probably sack him when the season ends and appoint some fancy **** foreign coach to play tippity tippity tap football.

Would make karanka seem like ossie ardiles. 9 goals conceded all season. 9!!!!!
This is the sort of football I like.

Its not about organising a defence, its about playing out from the back and knowing when not to.

I thought Travers decision making on that front was good on Monday night, and if there was no one really on he went long. Sol Brynn also seemed to know when to just hoof it up the pitch rather than play a defender into trouble and force a mistake.

Most teams, if not all, in the PL and EFL play this way now.

Regarding Pulis, he had his way, and it worked for Stoke, but I never want to see us play that way again. Carrick has his limitations, but I've enjoyed some of the football over the last few years more than I have for a long time. I have been extremely frustrated this season though, to the point where I'm now not bothered if Carrick stays or goes, but we've made some big changes to the squad these last couple of weeks and he deserves a chance to see what they can do. If we don't make the play offs, he'll be gone anyway.
