I agree with your bottom sentence and I would be all for moving the clocks forward in line with the rest of Europe. There is nothing better than sitting on a summer evening in the garden and it still being light.Doesn't dawn occurring at 4am in the summer also affect sleep patterns?
Tbh I'm not too bothered about winter, there's such little daylight anyway, don't think it matters too much what you do with it. But it's annoying in the summer losing 2 or 3 hours when most people are in bed.
There are parts of the year where it's broad daylight at around 5am and dark by 8.30pm, just seems such a waste given we live half the year in mostly darkness anyway.
But not light until ten a.m in the winterOther way around. 6pm in the winters, 11pm-midnight in the summer.
Significantly more houses were build between 1997 and 2007 then between 2010 and 2020Should have built some F***ing houses when you were in charge then you big F***ing moose.
For seven years during World War II Britain set its clocks one extra hour forward throughout the year, in order to gain even more of the same benefits that the original Summer Time change had brought: increased workforce productivity, boosted morale, saved energy and reduced danger from air raids. It worked because GMT+1 in winter and GMT+2 in summer meant most people spent more of their waking hours in the daylight. When the war ended, however, the clocks went back to their peacetime settings.

The difference now is that we used to all make our own way to school; our parents never dropped us off or picked us up. Would it be that much of a problem for kids walking to school.I remember we tried this in the 60's and all the kids got issued with glow arm bands and bright orange school bags to walk to school with due to the dark mornings.
Britain conducted an experiment between 1968 and 1971 where it stayed on British Standard Time (BST) year-round. During this period, clocks were set one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) throughout the entire year, meaning there was no reverting to standard time in the winter. This effectively put the UK on the same time as Central European Time (CET).
The experiment was intended to study the potential benefits of lighter evenings, such as reducing energy consumption and traffic accidents. However, it was controversial, as many people in Scotland and northern parts of England complained about the darker mornings, particularly in winter.
In 1971, after a parliamentary vote, the experiment ended, and the UK returned to the system of changing the clocks twice a year — switching to GMT in winter and BST (GMT+1) in summer.
Maybe tow the UK closer to Barcelona would be my choice on how to reduce the depressing attitude? But seriously how do we manage to pucker up depressed people? Free bets on the Grand national perhaps, or maybe share the lottery prize between 50 million people — assuming it gets to £50m? Now there’s a nice windfall but I’m sure our government would tax the winners by 98 percent — and not pay out for 5 years! lol
Seriously?! Labour did **** all. Tories did **** all. Just cater for rich boomers.Significantly more houses were build between 1997 and 2007 then between 2010 and 2020
solid adviceStop watching the news /weather you cannot do anything about it, certainly if you are over 50 when you have lost the fight in yourself.
Read a newspaper backwards when you get to near the front do the puzzles instead of reading about death/destruction/murder/rape etc
I would change his tailor, that jacket looks two sizes too big for him. ;)
