Not sure if this has been posted already so apologies if so. I think I’ve read a few people on here saying they like his work. I saw this morning he’s on the latest episode of Grace Dent’s Comfort Eating podcast.

He says he used to drink a pint of negroni - A PINT! - followed by two pints of lager, then he’d go out and drink 20 pints of lager, two more pints of negroni AND a pint of gin.

A PINT OF NEGRONI!

Jesus Christ.

I've seen him talk about it before. His drinking was unbelievable. He always had a crate of stella with him in his boot so if he went anywhere he wasn't expecting he'd have 24 cans to drink. That was a daily occurrence as well, not just a weekend thing.

I've heard many people talk about working in restaurants and drinking (and drugs) was the only way to get through the day for them. Does seem like a very high pressure environment. I love cooking but I'd hate to be a chef.

Kind of explains why his pubs are Greene King.
Twenty years ago, I worked in the Cotswolds and when the conversation on a night out burned to beer (which it always does) I used to complain about Greene King, the dominant brewery in my neck of the woods.
Nobody could understand why, until they started buying up landmark pubs in their area.
They understand now!

It’s a cocktail made of equal measures of gin, vermouth and Campari. I’m a huge fan of them but the idea of a pint is absolutely mad. Let alone three.

I was assuming it was some sort of lager. You see it would still make absolute sense to me if it said:

He says he used to drink a pint of Stella Artois - A PINT! - followed by two pints of lager, then he’d go out and drink 20 pints of lager, two more pints of Stella Artois AND a pint of gin.

A PINT OF STELLA ARTOIS!

Not because Stella Artois is particularly strong like some fancy cocktail I've never heard of but because it's fuckin' 'orrible.

Is he the one that charges 30 odd quid for fish n chips in one of his restaurants 😳 no way I’m paying that ever for a poke of land an sea 😵‍💫

Blimey, I had heard he was a drinker but didn’t realise how bad it was.

Yep

I liked his story about celebrating a birthday (50th?) with one of mates. His mate said "You do realise we're already on Friday afternoon and there's only the weekend left".

Has a lucrative summer festival series for middle class spenders. Calls it Pub in the Park and the likes of Kaiser chiefs, Sophie Ellis Bextor provide the stage shows. Apart from the £60 ticket you pay a lot more for small plates of food in tents on paper plates. He knows how to relieve folk of their pennies does Tom.

Stayed at The Hand & Flowers a couple of years back, and ate in the restaurant and next morning we had just settled our bill and were in the car park.

My brother in law and I were admiring an Aston Martin (that's about as much as I know about cars) and I said "I bet it's Tom Kerridge's". My BIL said "nah he's too fat to fit in that thing", cue Tom marching past us with his overnight bag, giving us the Boro nod and getting into the car.

He's massive, and we were certainly suprised how he fit in so easily.
