Tinnitus

I was going to bump an old thread but decided to post a new one. I've suffered for years with drumming sounds, to cars, to music, to people chattering. I wear headphones at night to stop it. Last night it justed stopped. I presume it started with all the live music and clubs back in the day.

Do other people suffer with it? Saying that the electric noise has just started, so headphones back on 🙄😁

I get it occasionally but not loudly. Sometimes I only realise its been present when it stops.
Just had a cold over the last 8 days, symptoms are getting better but I woke up deaf in my left ear yesterday. Hoping
it will go as its driving me mad.

I had a mastoid operation this year and even now I can hear the faint sound of a violin when trying to sleep. Apparently it's the hairs in your ears picking up the vibes and moving, very strange feeling.

Same as Norman, with a constant high pitch ringing/screeching. I too have worked in heavy industry all my life and frequented nightclubs in the 80's/90's so know what's caused it. I now struggle to hear and probably should get my hearing looked at. I'll often use TV subtitles as I struggle with dialogue sometimes. It is also embarrassing when someone talks to you and you just don't hear them.
The tinnitus varies in intensity with me, but it is always there.

I am 37 and had (undiagnosed) tinnitus for around 3-4 years. Spent years working in kitchens with broken extraction units which emitted a low droning noise. I went to my GP a couple of months ago to be told I had good looking ears and I should contact a hearing test provider.

My hearing is getting progressively worse in my left ear and stopped using my AirPods a couple of years ago. I felt that concentrated noise into your ear was too much.

My TV volume is also creeping up, at the annoyance of the Mrs.

I’m roundly blaming Motorhead in the Town Hall crypt for the start of mine. Jeez it was loud.

I was helping my mate, the roadie, taking back line equipment into Nomis, rehearsal studios in West London for a band to go in at 6 pm. We got there at 3:30 loaded in and started to set up, about 20 minutes in suddenly huge noises, and the building was shaking.
Walked down the corridor opened the door to the other studio, then the inner door and were hit literally by this wall of noise. Motorhead were in the building. Those rooms are well soundproofed. Our lot came in stood around for 10 minutes, didn’t even attempt to start.
Left it until the next morning🤣

I get it every now and again. Only last for a few seconds when i do.
Did years of house bashing with no hearing protection on. Now i'm very much aware when i do DIY at home about covering my ears.

Mine's in my left ear, very high pitched, can ignore it most times but when I listen 'for it' it's annoying.

I'm guessing it's coz it's the ear nearest my hi-hats :(

I get it, especially when tired or stressed. Luckily its fairly fleeting and doesn't typically stick around longer than 10/20 minutes,

HAd it bad in one ear for years and just recently got it starting up in the other ear. It is awful but you got to try to ignore it or it would drive you mad

I have constant ringing in my ears exactly the same as after you've been to a loud concert. Although I've seen loads of live music over the years, it isn't to blame. My tinnitus started as a result of a virus about 15 years ago.
