I've seen lots of folks mention the impact it has on them growing up. I just found out it's being shown again for it's 40th anniversary next month. Only the 4th time the BBC has ever broadcast it.

I remember it being on and the conversation in the school yard afterwards. Can still remember it vividly to this day. Shocking still.

Yes I've told everyone I know to avoid watching television in October to make sure they don't see it. I actually own the dvd. I've never watched it beyond the bomb being dropped as it's just too traumatic an experience to revisit.

I'd move over to it if it if there were a few more users.

Stuck with s***y Twitter and the bots until then.

I watched it again recently and the first half is a bit Rita, Sue and the Bomb Too. Second half from the bombs is still bleak and harrowing.

Ohhhhhh. I remember. Ha!

This film frightened the shi.te out of me.
the bomb is scary enough but then its the total and utter breakdown of society.

It was written by the fella that wrote 'Kes', for those might be interested.

People trying to survive after a nuclear bomb hits Sheffield. I saw it when it was first on remember people getting no help, the Army looked after themselves and rich and powerful people and treated others as the enemy. Some of the survivors were glowing and throbbing, no one could keep any food down, then the food ran out. I will stop there.

Barry Hines was the writer I believe, socialist ex teacher from Barnsley.
