Thought Carrick had a stinker today

I suspect silvera played ahead of Mcgree because he will end up a better player than Mcgree.

Nothing wrong with the team that started the game and it was very close to what most on here wanted to see.

What was nice to see was that we had no loans. Whilst I have nothing against loaning players we are developing our own players rather than someone else's.

I did think lath's touch was off and that needs to improve. Rogers was superb. We, probably have 2 very capable players there to replace archer and chubba.

I am sure we will get a loan or two but hopefully not the five we had last season, 4 of whom we relied on.

We will do well this season in the mix for promotion.

The other striker was Gilbert, well I think he is a striker as he was top goal scorer for Brentford B team last year. Why bring a player in and leave him on the bench, if he isn't good enough to play then put in the U233's to keep him match fit. As for Crooks, yes, he scored a few important goals but that was last season, he doesn't have a striker's instinct and Coburn is a far better forward than Crooks will ever be.
If you name 9 and can only play 5 then some players will be unused.

Crooks isn't good enough in this team...he just slows things down. Gilbert is the one for me and whoever he can get on loan upfront. Coburn out on loan hopefully to Plymouth...they looked decent yesterday...just need a big man upfront.

Yeh I know that but when we were 1-0 to Millwall he was the only fit recognised striker on the bench, (he was never going to play Akpom or Coburn as he said so himself) yesterday he brought 3 forwards off and didnt put another forward on, we had 2 substitutions left but he never used them. Bringing Crooks, Mcgree and Jones on slowed our game down, their defence was on their last legs, bringing Coburn and Gilbert on might of caused them problems, Coburn with his height and Gilbert with his pace.

I don’t angree about Carrick not getting it right, he wasn’t responsible for the missed opportunities which meant we didn’t win.

But McGree and Crooks disappointingly weakened the team when they came on, Rogers and Forss offered far more.

Please tell me how Crooks contributed when he came on, were you watching the same game, he got caught in possession twice, was slow to attack
He still played some positive forward balls I think he put Jones in to lay it on a plate for Silvera didn’t he?

For me it was a 6 out of 10 performance that brought our first point of the season and the smallest of platforms to build upon.

Nobody had a stinker, nobody had a stormer, therefore hard to say X player was best on the pitch or X player shouldn’t have started. If we’re a team that is happy to stay in this league then that’s acceptable long term. If we’re a team that wants promotion then we need to see progress.

I thought forss was very poor as he has been all season
I think he has been ok and seemed sharper yesterday, didn’t he have a good shot well saved by their keeper first half?

My point was more how poor McGree and Crooks were when they came on, they might as well not have bothered.

I think crooks has been moved about so much he doesn't know his role anymore. He was a much more effective player under wilder. As for mcgree he was excellent last season i think its beyond reason that carrick can think such genuine quality can be omitted from the team especially in place of rookies. For me Hackney howson and mcgree have to start if fit.

I think Crooks looks to have become very slow for some reason, I also don’t think he fits easily into a possession oriented team.

McGree’s main problem for me is what is his position? Plus we need more from him in attack, the twisting and turning needs some cutting edge. I do like him though I think he works hard and never hides.

Mcgree's position is wide midfield where he played so well all last season

My question was a bit tongue in cheek, he needs to dominate and be effective in that position like Howson and Hackney are in theirs, he’s a good player but there is more to be got for me. I did think he was poor coming on yesterday.

Have you ever seen him play. I haven't and I hope he is good but just like Silvera people were overhyping him an the back of a bit of time in preseason games.

Hackney and Rogers were our stand out players yesterday. Latte Lath made a promising debut.
I’m not a fan of McGree, but he has to play ahead of Silvera.

Not keen on the abuse Crooks is getting from a few on here.
See also Forss.
We were better with Forss and Rogers on the pitch.

The minced beef pies were rather good yesterday.
Not too over-cooked.

Armchair tacticians and coaches out in force again I see.

Dunno how or why fans think they know better than professional managers and coaches about what is and isn't the right or wrong team, armed with none of the information our coaching staff have.
