Well coached, well drilled, they always looked to have an outlet. Attacked with purpose and every player knew their role and what was expected of them. A mobile and combative team, it was the best performance I think I have seen from a Sunderland team.
But as mentioned we weren't far off and a better balanced team minus Edmundson and Ayling, some coaching of the defence and it might have been different.
Can't believe we signed Ayling and am totally flummoxed with the Edmundson signing, he simply doesn't have the skill set for the way Carrick wants to play.
