This will be unpopular, but...

Forss last night should have had two goals. The header and the inside left chance. It’s arguably three with the second half chance just after our equaliser.

I am convinced we created the better chances last night just as we do in most games. That isn’t and hasn’t been the problem. The problem is that we’ve got absolute lumps at the back that are too slow in body and mind, technically nowhere near it in terms of how we want to play and as a consequence cannot cope with ANY pressure meaning that we end up giving away comedy goals. Edmundson in particular is an absolute hoofer.

I would say the difference is in the coaching and how they are set up. Out of possession they work hard and keep their shape far better than we do. That is why - they don't lose many games. Last night showed - their work rate and aptitude helps them find a way to win matches.

The difference for me is -

It isn't our players don't work hard etc but out of possession we are all over the place with gaps in front and behind the full backs which stretches the team and makes us easy to play against....

And Sunland don't fck about playing out from the back in short straight lines on the edge of their box..... At times last night..... We were a shambles doing that. Teams with good players know we do it and close us down. So frustrating that we needlessly give the ball away.

Last point - it's easy to argue we could have scored five or six..... We could have conceded the same. It doesn't matter. We didn't.

They were ok, organised but nowt special, they needed helping hands from us for all the goals, but what they are and it counts for a lot is determined, they keep going, sometimes that determination forces the other team into errors.
People saying they will come down straight away miss the point, they will have the financial opportunity to change personnel and add more quality, it might work it might not but at least it will be a chance.

Isidor has that Akpom energy of a player just loving life, playing with a big smile on his face. Bellingham was poor last night but he has that presence, Dan Neil loves that 'get in yer face' part of the game, and O'Nien has that Richard Keogh thing of being absolutely gash but always getting away with murder. Le Fee is going to be one of those players that haunt us every time we play against him - like Hamer or the little greasy weasel at Norwich.

I somewhat agree, they certainly look the best in the division I've seen live with the ball. But it's no exaggeration to say we should have been 3 up before they laid a glove on us. Forss has missed tow absolute sitters. They go in and it SHOULD be a completely different game.

Plus they won't get that lucky in terms of scoring a deflected goal and an own goal every week. It will be leeds top and then incredibly close between the next three with only a point or two in it

...Sunderland are the best team I've seen this season. They are a proper team from back to front who have the right mix of everything. They are light years ahead of us. I have no doubt they will be promoted this season.
It's not a popular comment but it's pretty accurate. A few mates have said Sunderland are the best team their sides have played this season.

we looked like that team for the first 15 minutes

but when they clicked they looked terrifying.

I hope they get to the automatics so we dont have to face them in the playoffs
Terrifying is a bit of an exaggeration. On paper they are no better than us and if we could defend and had a manager who can affect a game with tactical changes we would have won.

Their progress is surprising. Last year they were bang average and WE were supposed to be the team that would kick on and get automatic promotion (Favourites). Fair play to them - they've built a good team and have a very good coach who knows how to win games.

Said to a mackem on another forum nearly 30 years ago we won at Roker(1-0 pollock) on the way to promotion hope the reverse didn’t happen… what did

Better than us over the 90.

Fair play to them for rocking up and actually making a game of it.

Better to watch than Burnley or Wilder's lot on last nights showing.

Fair play to them, they are doing way better than I'd expected and looks like they are going to go the distance, remains to be seen how it plays out with the other 3

I trust that you have seen them on more than the two occasions that we have played them to offer that opinion?
It would be a bit of an unrealistic view if all you have seen of them is them playing against our powderpuff defence and openness of play and Carrick tactics.
They couldn’t beat Plymouth at home last game out don’t forget.
I would imagine that most managers look forward to playing us because we are so easy to plan for with Carrick in charge.

The definitely have all the attributes needed for a top two slot. Le Bris has done an incredible job there. Just shows what can happen if you choose the right coach.
