Strongest I have seen for some seasons UTB
 
One of that team is not yet our player, and another has not played a game for us. I don’t see how Jones would not be in our best XI either. And we aren’t going to play 2 up front with Carrick.
I admire your optimism though.
I think that we will be there or thereabouts providing we don’t have the injury problems of last season.
 
Conway being touted as almost there and the ‘in the know people’ very much of the view he has chosen Boro.
Hamilton came here for first team football. Raised in an outstanding set up by some of the best coaches in the world - as to the third point a bloke with Hamilton’s background trumps a bloke off the fields of Hackney marshes who can only play on instinct and really struggles when he has time and has to make a decision. I don’t think Carrick rates Jones as highly as the fans do - let’s see.
Conway will play the Azaz role behind ELL way better than Azaz did on Saturday.

I do think we will go for broke for a left back (maybe Giles) if Bangura’s injury is as bad as it seems but after his performance on Saturday I think Engel will be Carrick’s first choice.
 
Carrick won't move from 4-2-3-1 unless we absolutely have to - shipping too many goals, losing games, lots of injuries.

Has Carrick ever set us up 4-4-2, can't remember 🤔🤔

the thing I love is that even with injuries.. and the window still open.. you can pick any starting eleven.. and still make a really strong eleven from the rest of the squad.

If we get the signing of Conway over the line and get another decent LB, then yes I see no reason we can't be right up there this season. As it is right now, we are pretty strong in basically all areas, now more about building depth.

Engel did play very well yesterday and we know that’s in him to do just that - if we are to challenge for the automatic places then we need Engel to produce 7/10 every game and occasionally (like ayling does) a 8/10 or 9/10 performance.
It doesn’t (and never will) mean that the next performance can drop off a little in standard or quality. Quite the opposite in fact.
We expect more.

One or 2 performances that are a 5/10 from your fullback invariably leads to a draw or defeat.
Mr Engel - we are watching.
Saturday represented a 7/10.

Even after proving how essential he is to the side last season, some still have it in for Jones. Bizarre how desperate one or two are to drop him.

He obviously wasn't perfect on Saturday. Still much better than McGree and Azaz though.

I think it's one of those who's most likely to lose their place to Hamilton. (Who we actually haven't see kick a ball for us yet).
 
Hackney will start, Hamilton you assume when bedded in will start also, probably Azaz wi drop out but superb competition for places,that's what's needed, pushing each other on to higher levels

Jones was Jones on Saturday. The only real difference was he was gassing after 70 minutes.

He was fine, had a huge hand in the winning goal and got through a lot of defensive work.

He was the second best attacker on the pitch after lath.

Last season he got 8 goals and 4 assists in 31 starts. You would expect a little more than that from him than that, I guess.
 
Fantastic story Jones, picked up from non league obscurity, love his story should drum it into the players that have been with club's since they were tiny.
To work hard and achieve is a total credit to him, brilliant achievement and I love to see him doing well,frightens teams with his pace, makes mistakes but a very key player for us
