This day 1994 - The start of something big

The most exciting time in my lifetime being a Boro fan,the players Robbo attracted to our club were mind boggling.

We were so so close to achieving greatness and really putting the club on a global stage.

I still to this day think if we had held on against Leicester we would have stayed up and kicked on massively and let's not even start on the 3 points fiasco.
 
Truly wonderful time.
It seems like a lifetime away.
But who knows what`s round the corner?
 
Its just such a shame that a lot of negatives went along with him - the drinking culture for one! And I don't know what happened to recruitment after the first 3 and a half years. Suddenly it was all really highly paid older players with no sell on value. I'd like to bet it was those years that built up our debt which eventually caused a problem for Southgate and beyond.

For me, it was never the same with Robbo after we signed Gascoigne. It annoyed me from day one that my season ticket money went into his pocket.

I honestly think he wasn't a talented manager, just a big name who could attract players along with the most money (relatively) ever had to spend. Look what a difference Venables made tactically when he came in.

Yeah, Gazza thing for me too. Especially surprised me after the Merson masterstroke.
