Spending a few days in Northumberland later this month - Me, partner and two kids (4 and 2). Much to do in Berwick?

Also good family places to eat if you have any recommendations?

You can walk the town walls and fortifications or follow a picture trail of LS Lowry. He did lots of paintings in Berwick and at those points they have a sign with the painting on showing how he depicted the view and you can follow them around the town.

Assuming the weather is decent with kids of that age the beach is going to be favourite

I like Holy Island too but watch the tides - drowning the car on the causeway might not go down well with her indoors

The walls and fantastic building in the old town are unlikely to be of much interest to the kids but they are worth a look

Edinburgh is not that far away and a good train service

Yeap, live in Berwick, all above great idea's, plenty of walks by the river, around the walls, boat trips into the estuary also, chance to see dolphins if you are very fortunate.
Eating wise, Limoncello is at Italian, good for the kids, always busy, often noisy, plenty of other restaurants but more expensive.
Hope this helps, any other info please let me know

Alnmouth is treasure of a place. Nice bit of beach for the barns.
Then into Alnwick for the steam railway.
Avoid buying owt at Barter Books in the old railway station in Alnwick itself (nowt to do with the steam railway). Overpriced for secondhand books but a nice building to mooch around.

PS does anyone remember the Likely Lads episode where Terry has gone off to seek his fortune and ends up working in the car wash in Berwick?.....Quality!
