Things that have no real logic

I give you the US Midwest. Why isn't it called the Mideast as it is more towards that side of the country?

Because when the US expanded from the original 13 states in the East, these 12 states were at that point the furthest Western states of the US.
But because 'they' knew there was more land further west that they expected to incorporate at some point, they called it Mid-West instead of just West.
That way they wouldn't look daft when there were eventually more states further West than the West states.

Much like their World Series there should now be two versions, The flat earther religious buck nut one, and the normal science music loving mother fxxxxxx

Think it's a hangover from the colonial days. It took decades or more for westerners to migrate and colonise across the states.
Would assume so, everything West of the Rockies went "undiscovered" for a long time after settlers appeared on the East Coast, apart from by those who already lived there of course!

Yeah, was just an educated guess on my part but as you say seems to fit the chronology of the wests colonisation.

Have to say, I love living in the Midwest, they are far more laid back and friendly here than their east coast relatives (and a lot less entitled and arrogance than the SoCal crew). Ope
