"These things even themselves out"

Is a statement that alot of people say about incorrect decisions by VAR or referee's. I find it really annoying because it's bull****.

We had three goals in 4 games earlier in the season that were offside. Crooks, Jones X2.
We also scored a goal against Norwich away where we'd clearly committed a foul just before it.
That's just off the top of my head.
It does even itself out, we're just biased like all football fans
Norwich at home, never a red changed the game, there's another.

If it does even itself out what's the statistics of every game that a decision has gone for and against us?

I was listening to the punditry after full time last night and it felt like they were so blasé about the goal being offside, I've listened to EFL coverage go over and over about offside goals plenty of times but last night it just felt like an 'oh well'.

It can even itself. But there's just as much chance it won't.

Us getting a bad decision against us in one game has no bearing whatsoever on the chances of one going in our favour in subsequent games.

Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't understand how probability works.

The Sky coverage has been using phrases like "replays suggested he may have been offside", rather than he was blatantly offside, which was irritating.
It's not even questionable or tight.

Farke thinks it would have been classed as onside 10 years ago 😂

On the clichéd phrase, it's just something people tell themselves to try and get over bad decisions.

It obviously has no basis in fact.

Is the regarding the Gnonto goal?! I'm genuinely surprised he's gone after that one as an example of a borderline offside!

It's only Bamford standing the line of player and linesman which has resulted in that not being given, otherwise I'm 100% certain it's flagged.

I'm just going off the my own memory from being at the match, so I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the linesman wasn't even in line with play when the ball was kicked, he'd struggled to keep up all match.

People contesting the “they even themselves out” cliche is what brought us VAR!

In the championship let’s just all agree that we’re happy with things as they are, even poor refereeing decisions. There’s no alternative unless you want to endure the nonsense they have in the PL/CL.

They definitely haven’t evened themselves out against the dirties this season, it was every decision went their way last night and at bellend road too
