The Wilder/Burnley Connection confirmed by Scott

I hope those that were quick to dismiss others on here, now realise that there was an issue, and that our concerns were merited.

The way bbc tees spoke said it all as they know the score behind the scenes it was clear that there were serious problems that just never went away.

"
Michael had an idea of a couple of people he liked, (they will remain nameless), but one now owes Michael a nice bottle of wine for Christmas because the club he was at doubled his salary to keep him at his current club." - wonder which coach that is?

That still represents hints not details and crucially ignores Wilder's silenced version of events.

I think this needs its own thread. It's not a conspiracy theory folks for anyone still defending Wilder.

We had some good periods with Chris, but then there was an incident we all know about which was the Burnley connection.
Without trawling for the information. Is there any additional substance to it because he is just saying or referring to the same thing as the conspiracies theories

That is he could have taken issue with his answer like a load of others

He was very open and honest. I found him very likeable and came away feeling that we have a good man that knows what he is doing.

There are some elements that need to remain private, but I think you get the vibe of his thoughts.
If it’s a forum meeting talking to fans why does it remain private? Genuinely wanting to understand why.

I’ve read it and it doesn’t confirm anything extra at all.

What it does tell us is that wilder wanted to go against the vision of the club. Didn’t promote/work with youth. Sounds like wilder wanted older players on higher wages which goes against the vision.

I’ll need to substance to know that any contact either way was made with Burnley. Scott could confirm that his previous contacts there told him seeming though he was there 7 years ago

It does confirm more. This is the first time anyone at the club has actually used Burnley’s name. I don’t really know what people expect to be said on top.

At the very least it means either he made contact with them or the club made contact with us regarding his services. At that point things changed.

The hint about loyalty in the Carrick press conference suggests that Wilder wanted to leave. What more needs to be said?

It's the first time someone from the club has spoken about the Burnley connection. Of course it confirms something extra. It's wilful ignorance now thinking that there was no contact between Burnley and Wilder.

Why on earth would he refer to conspiracies? The man literally works at the club.

It doesn't actually confirm there was an approach from Burnley tbf. It just confirms there was an issue between Wilder and Boro. Maybe Wilder approached Burnley to let them know he was available but they weren't interested but word got back to boro.

Or maybe it was simply over the way he dealt with the speculation.

All he said is Burnley connection. Nobody can quantify it

Therefore all opinions remain conspiracies, after all it’s you interpretation of the comment

Don't see what the problem is LOYALTY ?...they dumped Neil Warnock and already had Chris Wilder lined up...
DOUBLE STANDARDS 🤔

What is clear and indisputable is that Wilder was linked with the Burnley job and deliberately fanned the flames of the connection. Whether or not Burnley actually wanted him is another matter and kind of irrelevant.

Obviously Scott interpreted it the same as us, as would anyone who knows how easy it is to say “no I’m not interested in that job”.
