The weekend beer and music thread

Evening all, hope we're all feeling a little upbeat after the win against Norwich. We had a slice of luck with the sending off, no doubt about it but we're more than overdue some. Hard luck for Norwich of course and we'd rightly be upset if it had been the other way around... but sod 'em! Let's hope we can get another 3 points against QPR tomorrow.

I was in Edinburgh last weekend and had a couple of these, and they're not too bad a pint truth be told.

And to kick us off with a song, here's some AC/DC

Allowing myself a glass or two of Puglian red.

And I went to see this lot on Monday. After enduring a week of misogynist vilification following a badly mis-quoted interview (for which the journalist has since apologised)... mostly about privilege (one of them is a bit posh), they turned up to The Hebden Bridge Trades Club ... a socialist cooperative, and played a War Child benefit. They were effin superb. One of the best gigs I've been to in over 40 years. Unassuming. Funny. Full of joy. A set full of great songs, delivered with some aplomb. Funny. Superb 5 part harmonies. And the local lass in the group performed a great version of Catherine Howe's "Up North" .... a proper treat. The privilege was definitely mine .... and that of the other 250 or so people lucky to be in such an intimate venue with them. I fear it won't ever happen again. They could have filled a venue ten times that size .... easily.

It was a bit like this. Tuuune.

Have a lovely weekend everybody and enjoy whatever you doing. We could do with another three points tomorrow but I think it will be a tough game. I have my son coming over to sort my electrics out for my new wood lathe in the morning and from then I will be stuck in front of the tele watching the match and then the England v Ireland game 6 Nations game. I can only see an Ieland win.

I will also have to email djoakucu@hotmail.com, he doesn't have my address to send my Royal Mail package. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Beer, I haven't opened anything yet but I have a few different IPA's in the fridge and will fall back on to a gin & tonic later this evening.

Sorry, but they have always really bloody annoyed me for some reason. It must be the misogynist in me 😅

It was the criticism that was based in misogyny .... not the appreciation, or lack thereof. They wouldn't be where they are without their posh background (just one of em) ... oh Daddy has connections... all that *****. Coming from people who'd overlook the fact that Radiohead met at Abbingdon ... anyway, don't get me started. It's international Womens Day :D

Still don’t like ‘em though 😂

And Prima Queen, Billy Nomates, Wet Leg, The Big Moon - da ladeez iz nailin it. Saw The Big Moon at the Wardrobe in Leeds couple of months back. Rammed, brilliant. We need to cherish these intimate gigs before their management have them filling arenas. Because they aren't far from that.
