"Am I confident we can be consistent? No. I`m not at the moment"

In his latest media conference, Chris wilder said he was "delighted" at Alex Mowatt joining the team:
with over 300 league appearances(y)
experience of play-offs(y)
and the Championship(y)
left-footed(y)
knows what success feels like(y)
available for the Blades game(y)
"ready to rock n roll"(y)
- he fits the bill(y)
But "I`m not looking for a carbon copy" replacement for Tav. Mowatt brings his own talent, skill, experience and leadership to the team.
Asked if Chris was still looking for players, he repeated he wont go over old ground - but assured us that there will be more players "ticking the boxes" before the window shuts.

"Everyone Gets Shafted"

Chris reiterated that if the club wanted to "overpay", there has been opportunity after opportunity during the transfer window.
"We could have done ten deals. We could have been sat here and overpaid [for players], put ourselves in a precarious financial position, cut corners, broken rules.."
But there are "...consequences for someone else to pick up down the line [who] has to pay for that".
If the club paid over the odds, then financially "everyone gets shafted".
None us have to think very deep about what hes talking about.

Further incomings?

"We all have the same plan and vision to get good players into the football team"
In response to a rather silly question from a journo who asked if he liked managing the best players [?!!] - [with a hint of sarcasm] - "I want every player to be the best player I`ve ever managed" [!!!]
"Sometimes it cant be done straight the way. It takes a little pain. We need to battle through this period".
Is Steve Gibson is behind him and the Management Team? "100%"!!! No ambiguity there.
So was he happy about where the player situation is right now?
With a wry smile - "Im comfortable where we are at the moment"....is there someone else just banging to get through the door? He never gives the game away.

Back to Business - Sheffield United

"We have to move on from QPR. The negative [going into todays game] is that we have taken only one point from six."
Pointedly - "All four goals we have conceded are our own fault".
But today - "the attitude and preparation [for today`s match] is no different from any other game.
And as for any "special relationship" with the Blades and particularly in light of the 4-1 drubbing at Bramall Lane[?] -
"No! Thats gone!
"Thats history"!
"We`ve moved to a new season"!
There were always going to be "favourites" according to the bookies, other managers, whether clubs still have parachute payments, a new Manager, "may be, may be, may be".... "Nothing is a given that you get an advantage being a big club! I know what good looks like."
Was he confident the team could be consistent?
"Am I confident the team can be consistent? No. I`m not at the moment"
"There`s still a hell of a lot of work to be done through out the club".
