The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Rotherham Match-Day Thread

I only saw the second half, I was driving. The second half we were the better side by some way. We really should have finished one of our chances in the second half.
Should have finished more in the first too, or at least some/ one.

The game was poor to watch, but only one side could have or deserved to win it.

Second half was more frustrating with them sat deep, but should have been over long before then.

Left after acknowledging the Queen and seeing those substitutions. It was another dire, rudderless gutless night at the Riverside. Nobody comes out of covered in glory. Fry and Djiksteel tried, Muniz chased shadows but at least he chased. Again for me I challenge the prevailing view Jones is a player who deserves his place every game without question. Passed 9 out 10 of his passes 4 yards backwards. Wasted possession time after time, as did many others but was weak and anonymous, often hiding when we had the ball rather than showing for.
Howson’s passing was really poor, Giles looks disillusioned and frustrated. Watmore missed good chances and in his desperation missed good passing opportunities. Crooks lumbers around but is to negative and is always on the edge of a yellow card.
No idea who Wilder will blame this time, probably Watmore but definitely not himself, his dire set up and tactics his bizarre substitutions.

Game wasn’t as bad as most made out on here, never looked like losing at all. On another day, 2 or 3 of Watmore’s shots will go in.

Up the Boro!

No, they won't. People have been saying that about Boro and Watmore but it never happens. Not ever.

Oh great, should have had a pen or a red card instead, gets better this 🤷‍♂️

Hard to see that touch mind.

We are finding 'positives' in keeping a clean sheet at home to Rotherham.

I guess it says it all. They looked limited and poor. There for the taking 😒

Desperately short on confidence and worse than that, terrified of taking the risks needed to break teams down.
We need a spawny win or one of those games where everything goes in to lift this funk.

I think people have worked Wilder out. When he burst onto the scene with Sheffield United and he stormed up through the leagues with this unique, style defying wing back and wide centre backs everyone from Paul Merson through to Plato were quick to hail him the messiah. However his doomed last year with Sheffield in the Premier League showed to everyone that he had been found out. Read the comments from Sheffield United fans..He has no plan B, cannot change mid game tactically to come back from defeat or snatch a victory and we're seeing it now. I wouldn't class him in the same category as so called dinosaurs of the game like Pulis or Warnock but i will argue with anyone on here who claims Warnock or Pulis wouldn't be on more points now from the games played? Some fans argument is, "but the XG, passing into space? The wing backs..." blah, blah. It's a results business and we're going nowhere.

Gibson is also to blame, he's sold our best assets from under Wilder - cleared the decks and recouped money from every area and tried to exchange them for cheaper alternatives and our best players are not even ours. It's going to be a long, long season unless something changes and there's no chance in Hell Wilder changes his tactics/system. He comes across as arrogant and above others and won't admit where he's wrong. We're doomed..

I don't know what anyone is complaining about. We won comfortably on xG. It's another step towards winning the xG league.

I'm sure Wilder will see it that way so we should all be satisfied it is just "individual errors" and nothing to do with him again.

I just seen some of the first half chances. 2 should have been on target, certainly.

Yeah, he's a one man wonder, smashing them in for Coventry this season. How they doing again?
Still got 2 goals in 6 starts (5 away games, and one home game against Preston who have bricked up their goals). It’s not bad for a team who has only scored 7.

I doubt it’s his fault they’ve conceded 13.

Pulis takes some stick but ultimately he got us to the playoffs in his first (half) season and we just missed out to a cheating Derby in his second.

Football was awful but at least we had structure.

Watmore should have buried that first one, he had all day, didn’t even hit the target. Jones should have buried his too. Think watmore had one blocked too, but shouldn’t have (can’t remember why, will look again tomorrow).

Game went as I expected but Christ, woeful

Feels something like we have gone back to the time when Warnock first arrived to help us, in terms of quality available. How the hell we have managed that given the turnover in players since, well it is just typical of us isn't it. Though well done to the lads in recruitment for finally signing a couple of keepers :ROFLMAO:

And Wilder didn't look to me like a manager under pressure there, though he absolutely should be. We're just going to stagnate and nothing changes ... I don't feel remotely inspired in any way about the rest of the season, it is over already. I felt if we didn't win tonight that would be it for CW, but appears not.

Worryingly, Jones appears to be just a flash in the pan so that creates extra problems . we're missing Tav like mad, Muniz isolated

That was like watching a couple of schools kids' teams play
