He's tried an intentional foul, from behind, when we're 3 v 1.

It could be a sending off for three reasons:
Dangerous/ from behind
Intentional
Denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity (which 3 v 1 is)

The fact he stayed on his feet makes no difference, it still impeded him/ slowed him up (removed some of the goal-scoring opportunity)

Are you kidding? The only reason Jones couldn't get a proper pass away was because of a supremely cynical foul by Colback, which meant he never recovered his balance in time to make the pass.
