* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Preston [09/24] Programme and Match-Day Thread *

They’re 4 points ahead of us and have only lost once. We’ve failed to beat Portsmouth, Derby & PNE and now we’ve got a tricky run of games coming up.

I think I’d rather be in their position tbh.

We often give Sunderland a head start, and we always end up above them.

This season will be no different.

I thought Preston who weren’t very good were pretty comfortable today.

I can’t remember there keeper actually making a save.

By the way for context we did this against Swansea. We were the better team and went into half time 1-0 up and then just stopped. The second half was a non-event. We got away with it. This is a recurring theme under Carrick. It needs sorting. You don’t go up if you don’t beat your Prestons and your newly promoted teams. It’s annoying as f*ck.

Carsick needs to start making subs from the 55 minute mark - and NOT 65 mins+
I don't mind the 65 minutes but it's always 1 sub on 65 and then he waits until 75-80 to make more. With 5 subs and how strong our bench is now I don't see why he isn't making a triple change on 60-65 minutes and then keep the other 2 for late on if that's what he wants to do.

The more time passes since the final whistle, the more cheesed off I’m getting with that. We don’t punish sides for their mistakes, or take advantage when we are well on top, and it’s been a feature of our play for a fair while now.
All the possession and xg stats mean eff all if we are having the same issue every week.

Disappointing overall. I think it's clear we're still gelling as a team so it's good that we're still well in touch with the top but we need to improve in this next run of games.

The most frustrating thing about the game was the way we slowed the game down once we went ahead, usually we're desperate to get in the lead because teams then have to open up, we had that and then chucked it away. We also can't afford to not have Morris in the side, I do understand why he hasn't played but we look a different side with him in it, Hackney and him look our best midfield pairing since Leadbitter and Clayton.

It certainly wasn't as bad as any of the nonsense being put on here though.
I'm afraid it was just as bad !

I am a big Carrick fan but Doak and Morris should have been on ah half time.

Not many managers make changes at half time and I don't think we'd been bad in the 1st half to warrant making changes at half time.

They definitely should have been on around the 60th minute though. The connection Morris and Hackney have already is obvious to everyone.

This is the most concerning for me. Subs way too late.
Always been the same mate.
The modern game is all about the squad, everyone uses their subs to try to get an advantage and fresh legs, it’s getting embarrassing how we are way behind the curve when it comes to subs.
