* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Huddersfield Match-Day Thread *

Ok slight improvement. We Werner an absolute calamity at the back and only let one in.

Dieng 6 - did nothing wrong
RVB 6 - never a fullback, but that isn’t his fault
Engel 4 - got torn a new one then gang raped in his new orifice. Pulled off at half time which he probably enjoyed a lot more
Fry 5 - gash, looked nervy defending and slow passing
Lenihan 7 - showed leadership
Hackney 7 - 5 most of first half, 8 second
O’brien 6.5 - solid much better than howson
Silvera 3 - terrible decision making, terrible execution, should have got the hook at half time, no idea how he lasted 80+ mins
McGree 5.5 - disappointing performance
Crooks 6 - worked hard, some decent link up play in second half with coburn and jones
Coburn 7 - 5 first half but not his fault as he had nothing to work off, second half, held it up and payed it off well

Jones 8 - changed the game. When he plays like that he’s unstopable
Greenwood 5 - didn’t really do anything
Rogers n/another on long enough

Carrick 5.5 - needed to take Silvera off earlier

Engel was very poor or exposed at the back. He looked like a forward in the wrong position.

Silvera needs to pass much earlier. He will have to step up.

Not happy with a point, but we go on…

Play like we did first half and we will go down, with an embarrassingly low number of ponts . Play like we did second half and we might just be OK and stay up. The thing that really bothers me, is that we seem to not have a leader anywhere on the pitch, no nastiness, no guts, as someone said last week, a team full of f*****s.

Silvera's decision making was wrong almost every time, keeps shooting as he is being closed down, and it deflects back up field every time. His execution was terrible on the few occasions he made the right choice. Overhitting crosses, hitting through balls too long and too straight, making the wrong run. For me, there might be a player in there, but he's 2 years training from being a champo squad player.

As for Engel, just wow. Worst Fullback performance since Keith O'Halloran against Derby in 95. If he isn't carrying an injury, then he is really, really out of his depth. Maybe 3 levels above where he should be. He needs to be put on extensive 1-on-1 training, including a huge amount of gym work to get himself stronger, faster, fitter. He is physically a 4/10 for this level. Doesn't matter if he can put a decent cross in, if he can't run he'll be identified as a weak point and attacked every game. I'd rather play our U18s LB right now....whoever that is

Agreed, some of the senior players need to step up and direct and younger and foreign ones. Dieng, Lenihan, Fry, O'Brien, Crooks have to take the strain for the other lads and show their worth.
