* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Huddersfield Match-Day Thread *

Potentially unpopular opinion: I'd like another season in the Championship under Carrick, smash it, and be a much more attractive proposition for the Prem the season after. Having said that, promotion via the playoffs wouldn't be unwelcome, I just wonder if we'd be ready.
Funnily enough I thought the same a couple of weeks ago. Might be quite nice having a Burnley-ish season. That said, no guarantee that next season a few teams don't hit some form (like Stoke now), and it's tougher next season.

At least everyone (bar Luton) beneath us didn't get a result at least for a change, seems like every time we've slipped up everyone below has won til today. Ideal considering I don't really fancy us to get anything against Burnley.

Mind we won't have Wilder next season, so it will be like a twelve point head start or so.👍

Totally disagree. Just don't think football reliably works like that. No guarantees we'll be anything like the same team next year if we stay in the championship. Take away Giles and his assists, Archer, Steffan. Hackney might have a poor second season - lots of young players do. Akpom might never score these sorts of numbers again.

We've got a chance to go up this season even after today. I desperately hope we take it.

We’re just too naive at times, we’ve always looked dodgy defensively this season but sometimes you have to foul teams when there’s a threat. That doesn’t need new players it’s just a different mentality, the first 2 goals could have been prevented just by dragging them down when they were running at us, teams do it to us all of the time.

There'll be a lot of glory hunters very disappointed this evening 🙂
Middlesbrough is synonymous with people pitching up to soak up the glory. 😂 We were the best side in the world once. I remember it. It was a Tuesday night... 😂

Too many today were way too casual in their tackling and passing, but that was 20 minutes of everything falling to them perfectly and for us, everything going wrong.

We need to ensure we regroup and dont finish this season like last, I doubt we will, I ain't giving up on anything till Susan Boyle sings.

Burnley is an ideal game to be up next imho, a footballing team we can get at and go toe to toe with, under the Riverside lights. This will hopefully be a kick up the backside and make the lads realise they've done nowt yet.

Problem is it's far from certain we'd get any loanees back. Plus we might get an offer too good to refuse for Akpom if he doesn't renew.

Could be half a first team needing rebuilding.

You take promotion when you can get it.

Bizarre game of football. Struggled to break em down first half and fell apart second. Whilst were clearly a top technical team I do wonder about our mentality and resolve at times. I'd like to see a little less trying to play the game the right way and a little more grit and aggression.

That way if the technique doesn't work you can always grind out a result.
