Crooks on a hattrick, and has an opportunity to take on the last defender late in the game. I was SURE that he was going to blaze it over the bar, or shoot straight into the shins of the nearest defender. The deft pass to Akpom was absolutely brilliant and also very unselfish.
If I was a defender, I would not relish going up against Crooks.

If Crooks deliberately waited for chasing defenders to run past him so he could knock the pass behind them so they couldnt intercept it then that is very cool thinking. I am going to assume that it was.

I think he did. Defenders first job is to get goalside and second is to delay. He looked up to see where Chub was, then slowed down enough to allow the defenders to get goalside and cover the space, then he squared it. Good clever play.

I'm not so sure. Not watched the replay back but didn't crooks kind of pass through the retreating defenders, rather than behind them?

He actually looks over at Akpom 3 times before passing. For his second goal, Crooks could have laid it off to Akpom but took the shot. This time I think the lay off to Akpom was always his first choice.
Note also that Akpom starts the move by winning the ball surrounded by 3 opponents and plays it perfectly to Crooks.
