The unofficial "Official" 5-games-to-go Boro v QPR Match Thread

Well when we rely on waste of space strikers, inept players throughout then we deserve everything we get

Please bin as many as possible & give games to future generation
Totally agree Erimus .
Massive overhaul required .
Inept , half hearted , pathetic .

Well, when you take in to account the level of players we have, so called international throughout, the standard some of these think they are, then this present bunch must be one of the worst teams in our history

Your not allowed to, you can only go back and give a yellow
Depending on exactly what you mean, that's not quite true. You can play advantage and then go back to send a player off but not if the offence would otherwise have been DOGSO and a goal is scored. If that occurs, the goal has not in fact been denied and so the player is only cautioned. If that's what you were referring to, then you're right.

But for anything other than DOGSO, a referee is allowed to play advantage on a red card offence (though it shouldn't be done unless there's a clear opportunity to score).

Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct, states:
If the referee plays the advantage for an offence for which a caution/sending-off would have been issued had play been stopped, this caution/sending-off must be issued when the ball is next out of play. However, if the offence was denying the opposing team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity the player is cautioned for unsporting behaviour.

Oh it was McNair who failed to react and close down the first goal, not Howson. So McNair basic errors involved in both goals again

I have a slightly differrent opinion to most. Warnocks footballing style aside, I don't think the team is that bad to be honest. Yes the strikers need an overhaul and we need 1 more in midfield, a more forward thinking midfielder who can create. That may be tav, but we need one more.

Our first 11 has been a match for most teams we have played this season. Injuries have had an impact.

The end of season games are a bit meaningless and when you have playes going out of contract or on loan they are, quite rightly going to be looking forward to their next club. For those reason I think it may be wrong to judge the players on the last couple of games.

If the jan new additions all leave, which I think they may, we obviously need to replace them. I would keep bolasie if we can.

One good result today.
I didn't know it was an early kick off.
So I missed it.
Sometimes you get it right by getting it wrong.
😁

yup

Meandering to the end of another dismal season with the uplifting news that we are building another team for next season .
We have built more teams over the years than Wimpey have built houses.

Agreed
Unlike some I don't hate Assombalonga, but as with Fletcher (who was even worse than Britt last week) he is gone already in his head - so Neil Warnock should not be involving them in the matchday squad any more
It was hardly Assombalonga's fault that we lost today - but that's not the point
I don't want them 2 involved any more , and lots of fans agree

That's the nature of football, most teams in this division will have rebuild jobs in the summer.

Disapointed in NW TBH, thought he was stronger than that, he binned the other waster in Gestede before the season was complete, he should have the same to Fletcher & Assombalonga & go with what we have
Yes.
Otherwise they are like a poison which lingers in the dressing room.
Some of the lads will want to focus and develop their talents, but are stifled whilst Brit and Fletcher sit idly round.
Like waiting in an aiport waiting lounge.
Bin them both off.

I'd agree.

A back 4 of Dijksteel-Hall-Fry-Bola or a back 5 of Dijksteel-Hall-Fry-McNair-Bola are more than good enough. Once we start playing reserves, a back 4 with McNair in it we start to struggle. So we need a couple of bodies in there.

GK, we all know that's an issue.

Morsy is a solid championship midfielder and Tav is good enough to step on next season and be one of the best in this league, he was already showing it and starting to really take charge of games on his own.

Midfield creativity and goals, haven't been good enough, we need players that are comfortable on teh ball, want to play with their head up and get into the box and score.

CF, needs an overhaul.

If we resolve those issues, we will be very, very strong. If we don't it's another transition period and we will lose Fry and Tav next summer. Then it gets very hard to compete.

Not sure how to give my grades for that match

Archer 7 - no blame for the goals, made a good stop 1 on 1
Fisher 5 - struggled to contain the LWer
Hall 7 - played fairly well, wasn't really troubled
McNair 4 - poor, lack of awareness and closing down for both goals
Bola 5 - Didn't really get forward
Howson 5 - no influence, second best in battle
Saville 3 - third best in a two horse race. Should have scored though
Spence 5 - really struggled for first 20, better after that, but if spence makes 36 appearances for your team, you know you are weak on the right flank
Kebano 6 - tried to create and a good cross for the goal
Bolasie 6 - good header, kept falling over though and should have scored a second but had a bad touch
Watmore 6 - ran hard but had no quality ball to work with. Setup Bolasie to equalise (which he fluffed) and his run committed their GK for the red.

Johnson 6 - some decent balls in
Britt 0 - absolute waste of space, I never give a 0 but all he did was give the ball away and commit cheap fouls
Coulson 6 - tried to get on the ball and commit defenders, and won a couple of free kicks.

I was packed an ready to bugga off shopping after that.
Glad I did.
Managed to buy a Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake - which is delicious.
My local Aldi say they have had to stock up and the demand has been incredible.

While I'd say calling them a poison is a bit harsh I do agree with the rest of that

Maybe you`re right,
but I couldnt think of another word or phrase which highlights how much a team can quickly become overshadowed by individuals.
A productive unit has to be aiming and pushing in the same direction.
Until the baggage is gone, we cant begin again. (y)
