* The Unofficial “Official” Boro v Leicester City [Feb 2024] Match-Day Thread *

Super Sammy Silvera, the wonderful wizard from Oz.

He really is a whiz of a wiz, if ever a wiz there was.

Football is mental, we have had limited chance but been clinical when we need to be and find ourselves 2 nil up - Superb.

One thing I will say and he hasn't had a lot to do as yet today but when Mcnair plays we look better and the 3 suits us, I know he has his issues to at times but he is a very good player at this level.

Good first half. Pretty solid defensively and you might argue we should have had a third but for excellent defending.

Rode our luck once or twice but you always will playing Leicester, they are a notch above championship.

This may well be the first team we do the double over.

Really good first half. We look class on the break. Just look far better against teams that come at us and not have to worry about breaking them down.

Keep a clean sheet and we win. Simples 😂

I've said it before this season. I swear our results are negatively correlated with us being the better team (to be fair we have given as good as we've got this game - they missed their two chances we scored our two best chances).

If the opposition has more chances... we seem to win. We are on top... we seem to lose.

The difference today is that a team are attacking us so we can break through them with our slick passing. We struggle against teams who sit back. Oh and five at the back gives us better protection, when we give it away i.e. Matt Clarke losing it on the left wing ten minutes ago. (y)

I am half watching as I am working (and I can't bear to look in case we suddenly concede) but it seems like they are playing quite high, and as we have no real striker, we are catching them out with everyone breaking from deep (with speed!! remember when we used to play with speed across the front line?)... would welcome any further opinions on that.... And if we have been doing that surely they will suss it out and change in the second half?

Captain as well today isn't he? I know we all expect him to be off at the end of the season, but slightly odd choice for captain if that had already been decided at this point.

Would be devastating for his fan club I know, but maybe a new contract isn't off the cards yet.

This system works. I’m suprised it was dropped after the Villa/Chelsea home games. I’m assuming it’s 3 at the back and two wing backs. I’ve just switched on so apologies if I’ve got it wrong.

Nope its still a back 4. McNairs with Barlaser in cm, OBriens in the 3 behind the striker.

The lads are all looking thirsty to cement that first team spot. Let's hope we can smash this second half and use this to swing our form around.

Leicester are playing great football for this division, and racing certainties to get promoted, but get boooooed off at half time by their fans because they're losing.
Aren't football fans fickle?

You only have to read the start of this thread and the board all week to see how fickle football fans are. If we manage to hang on to this result, there will be one or two with egg on their faces.

That is utterly baffling.

They've won 13 of their 16 home games before today, scoring 33 and only conceding 9.

They've won 8 and only lost 1 of the last 10 league games.

Anyone booing in those circumstances should be embarassed, but I suppose it's to be expected of the club that brought in paper clappers so fans didn't have to clap themselves.
