The Teesside Times

I'm time served TT. Used to deliver about 180 around Yarm. On a good day would take about 1 and half hours.
Had to go home half way through to refill bag. When first full the strap felt like it was cutting into my shoulder.
I used to love the leaflets. Meant more money. Used to be an extra 60p per bundle of leaflets.
A lady would drop them off at my house on a Wednesday night along with my envelope of cash from the week before.
Would try and get them done before School. Hands were absolutely filthy afterwards.
Yes. Remember coming back home with black hands from all the ink on the papers. You definitely needed a good bag with a decent strap to try and avoid the shoulder pain!

Wow....this is a memory jerker...me and my mate used to deliver these round a tough estate...
On a Wed morning a car used to turn up at our mams House and dump close to 3 million papers with about 4.6 million inserts
We had bags that were so tightly packed we had to lean over almost horizontally to stay stood up.
Slave labour..it really was...!! 2 quid and an extra quid if you went round with inserts...
Savaged by nasty dogs regularly
It made me the man I am however....
I'm also afraid to say it got so bad we used to occasionally dump.a full bag.
Happy days

Maybe....
