Not so - I believe it is due to a public liability issue with the council and parkrun itself. But best not to say anymore about it.Council are fine with it, from memory it's the canal trust

What is unofficial if someone eyes up litigation?Just make it unofficial then? Surely nothing can be done to stop a group of people jogging about?
No idea Rob. I'm just curious as to why a run around the barrage would be any different to a group of people running up and down Redcar beach organically or racing to the top of Roseberry Topping? What is unofficial if someone eyes up litigation?
I was wrong about this - but I do wonder about the future whether as alluded to by a poster there could be a new parkrun linking in the new park and around the river. I think it would be good for Stockton to have a parkrun that is accessible from the centre of town.I did hear tell Stockton Council would like the parkrun to return.
It shouldn't be - but then again if someone injured themselves on Roseberry Topping they might look to take legal action if they could find anyone to target. No idea Rob. Yep. There was a follow up letter to the Canal and Rivers Trust who replied they were very happy for the parkrun to continue.'We are forced to concede': Popular parkrun folds after 10 years at Tees Barrage

"What a great loss to the local community."
Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Leisure and Culture, said: “We have given permission to the Tees Barrage parkrun organisers to use Council land. However, we believe the event organisers have not been able to reach a similar agreement with the Canals and Rivers Trust about use of their land for the run.”"
Legal action? The runner or the National Trust (since they own it)? If a runner falls while out jogging, surely there is no legal action, so why any different up Topping or Round the Barrage? It shouldn't be - but then again if someone injured themselves on Roseberry Topping they might look to take legal action if they could find anyone to target.
