THE SCENARIOS

1. We continue a record breaking run and Sheffield United implode on the final run. Automatic promotion, unbelievable, not sure how we could comprehend such a thing.

2. We continue our automatic promotion form finish on 86 points, beat Norwich over two legs and face Sunderland in the final.. comprehendible, but again would be too good to be true.

3. The playoffs find their natural levels and we do not meet Sunderland in either the semi finals or the finals, Watford and Luton are the order of the day. Nile biting wins see us though and wondering what to do with ourselves.

4. A playoff final loss. Unfair and unjustified.

5. A play off semi final defeat.. anything can happen. Typical boro.

6. We don't make the playoffs.. well. Seemed like it was going to be that way. Disappointing.

If we do win.. what do we do with ourselves? Do we get a trendy new song?

I feel there should be an option for the whole squad suffering from acute gastric distress for the next three months, possibly caused by tainted Alfredo sauce.

I think the club should be subsidising heavily shat troosers atm

also bedsheets for those.. night visits of the segssy variety

Its Boro, remember. ;)

After 50 years of following them, there's one thing that's certain... "they'll always build your hopes up then let you down in the end".

Occasionally though they surprise us (Millennium Stadium v Bolton, Steaua Bucharest, last day promotion v Brighton etc).

On this occasion my gut feeling is saying it'll be #3.

But its 'Boro'.... so I'm not ruling out #4.

*If* this is to be one of those rare occasions where Boro build up our hopes and don't dash them at the last hurdle and we somehow steal 2nd off Sheffield United, it should go down as a bigger comeback than our UEFA Cup nights imo. It'll be something extraordinary.

If it's number #4 then it's Sunderland.. 2,3,4 & 5 are all Sunderland.. even 6 is missing out to Sunderland.

Sheffield will not wobble for #1.. so we need to go absolutely mad and go on an unbeaten run never seen before
or their financial irregularities result in a 12 point deduction. (does anyone know what the chances are with that?)

Would be very happy to go to Wembley again (please not against Sunderland), even with the risk of defeat.
Being amongst 40k plus Boro fans singing their hearts out is an incredible experience.
Losses make losses more likely.. Millwall are facing Sheffield United at a great time.. if it is at all possible, then we may well see it happening.

Option 7

Overtake Sheff Utd and be in pole position last game of season. Contrive to throw away automatic promotion on the last day versus by turning a 2 goal lead after 70 minutes into a 3-2 defeat whilst Billy Sharp scores a 104th minute winner with his ****, condemning us to the play-offs.

Win the SF, face Norwich at Wembley. Hernandez scores the winner after 4 minutes, we hit the post 17 times and have 5 goals disallowed, following the match it becomes clear at least 3 of them should have stood.

Post match it’s revealed Eddie Howe is homesick, he leaves the Jawdees who subsequently appoint Carrick as manager. He signs Akpom and Hackney, Newcastle win the league and then the Champions League final the year after, both players scoring in a 5-0 victory vs Barca.

We bring in Steve Bruce as manager, and in a couple of seasons time we are talking about a late run to the playoffs in League 1….😀
This sounds familiar

Jeez that's the scariest horror story I've ever read ...

I wouldnt think to far ahead, we can only concentrate on each game as it comes if we win all our games and dont finish in the top 2 fair play to them, its theres to lose.

We have shown we can be beaten and beat anyone in the league on our day, play offs are a lottery and form doesnt really mean a lot, its more about coping with pressure.

I trust Carrick to keep us on the right path he knows we can only effect what we can do, the harmony of the squad appears similar if not better than when we got promoted under karanka, squad is equally if not better than karankas squad.

Momentum is everything, lets fill the ground the majority of games left are at the Riverside we need to make it a fortress!

Am really confident of option 1.
Me too. We’ll know a lot more tomorrow after the blunt blades play millwall (and agent Watmore) at midday and assuming we can get past QPR.
A millwall victory will deliver a major panic button moment to heckingbottom whose bottom will literally fall out (!) 😳

A defeat tomorrow could do significant terminal damage to confidence of sheff utd and I personally don’t rate heckingbottom to calm things and bring everyone back together

Millwall away is a hard game. If Sheffield get straight back to winning ways tomorrow then I dont think they will drop enough points regardless of what we do. If they stumble though and we win then it really is game on as they will start to get nervous.
