The Sagrada Familia

All those tall towers are just the baby towers (representing the 12 disciples). There's a giant tower in the middle (representing God/Jesus or whatever) which will reach to the moon. That's why it's taking a while.

Hate to be geeky on this one but it is a specific height: 1m shorter than Montjuic. Guadí was very religious and he didn't want to build anything higher in Barcelona than what God had created

Doesn’t sound like he is that devoted then if he believes God didn’t help him create La Sagrada Familia.

Actually isn’t part of the thing about it being a tourist attraction the fact that it isn’t finished ???

Sorry if I’m stating the bleeding obvious 😂

I walked across the city to see it and found it surrounded by construction boards and scaffolding…

I’m not sure I was anything more than underwhelmed by it, I didn’t go in though so might’ve missed its best bits…

If you've not read The Pillars of the Earth I would recommend it. Shows what is behind these buildings and why they take so long.

I first visited it in 2004 when it was due to be completed in 2008, and the guidebook said “expect it to be a frenzied construction site as work intensifies to finish the cathedral.”

I saw a total of two Spanish men in hard hats, and one was asleep.

If Gaudi was born in Guangzhou they’d have knocked up the bloody thing in 3 weeks.

Oh.. people walk round with backpacks selling cans! Viva Barcelona!!
These guys are everyday heroes.

Rate used to be a can of Mahou or Estrella for 52c from the supermarket, or €1 from the guy - decent profit margin but a good deal is one where both sides come out of the negotiation happy.

Used to have a Cerveca Frio guy in the square next to mine who would repurpose a bin with ice after dark to keep his cerveca extra frio, what a legend. Me and my mate went down halfway through a house party once and bought his entire stock, was something like €56 😁
