The Royal Family pretending to care….

Come off it, look how it’s filmed. It’s not a news report, it’s a PR stunt.

Stop being so naive.
You and I have discussed this before, your attitude to people who disagree with you. I asked you a question about your viewpoint on all filmed events. I am trying to understand whether your dislike is just the Royal family or if all covered events are just PR stunts. Its not naivety to ask a question, but its stupidity to equate asking a question with taking a position different to your own.

I'm a fan of the George Michael approach by celebrities, no-one knew quite how many good deeds he had done until others talked about it after he died.

I put this PR stunt alongside the pictures you see of Tory MPs at foodbanks, or Dan Wootton 'grieving' the passing of the Queen.

So am I. It appears then that you consider all PR events to be disingenuous.

I actually believe they do care, to some extent anyway, they are human beings and probably not the worst to have ever walked the Earth or anything.

But they have been indoctrinated into believing that holding the titles of King/Queen (eventually) is a duty they have to the nation. They probably think they will be doing these people (and all of us) a favour by “serving” as their King/Queen.

I have no respect for Kate. She hasn’t even had a bash at bringing them down, like Diana and Meghan had. Even Fergie had a little nibble before she realised she still needed somewhere to live.

The WHOLE royalty thing is a big PR stunt/charade. There are too many people who stand to be heavily inconvenienced if it ever stops existing, and they are happy to continue exerting their power to ensure it still does. Meanwhile, poverty continues.

There are a lot of things to get annoyed with the Royal Family for. I don't think this is one of them to be honest.
Surely it is the charity that is benefitting from the PR, which can only be a good thing can't it?

Sometimes it is helpful for celebrities to publicise their support for charities.
Pointless getting someone famous to raise awareness of your cause then ask them to do it in secret. The motivation of the celebrity is secondary.

If they do it and don't get paid I agree, if they are pulling a wage to plug a charity then its PR drivel and is something we need to eliminate from our culture.

The power of celebrity is detrimental to society and sends the wrong message . ie. you can raise your profile by pretending to care!

Yeah, it is a fine line.
But the profile of a charity can be raised massively.
We had an event in our hotel for a fairly small charity. The 'celebrity' that supported it was a bit of a d*ck and probably only did it to improve his own image. I don't think he really cared about the charity specifically. But his presence drew in a big crowd, a lot of money was raised and also plenty of monthly DDs arranged. Coverage on local radio and in newspapers also helped.
He didn't get paid btw.
