The revolution will not be televised

"The occupation of a person’s non-residential property without their permission is not a crime in England".

This seems crazy to me, so people could occupy hospitals, schools, museums, shops and there is nothing that can be done about it?

That would be trespass, which is a civil offence.

I cannot see any positive in this. Some scum taking over a building? Should be able to be removed by force if necessary.
You can certainly in principle use reasonable force in England to remove someone who has been asked to and declined to leave from land or a non-residential property. Whether you would be wise to do so might depend a little on whether that person is a lawyered up protester or a bolshie football supporter/ lairy drunk in a pub.

I think they missed out a word between non-residential and property.... unoccupied

Anyway from all the tv progs about this kind of thing it seems sort of 'allowed' and Ramsey will have to use a specialist removal type adviser/property firm for this as all the ticks and crosses of the legal affairs have to be applied or else they will know and push against it . These squatters know all the procedures and that's unfortunate. I used to think for many hours 'what if that happened to me ' ' what rules would I circumvent to speed up the procedure' The only thing I came up with that seemed legal was to absolutlely stink the place out with whatever legal and non caustic causing substances. I think its the only way without going through the normal courts.
