The problem with our fans.

Is that they still think we’re a Premier League standard club that has just fallen on hard times and our current standing is just a blip.

We punched well above our weight for years. We’re an unfashionable area with limited resources, which means we’re swimming in a pool with much bigger fish.

That’s why they’re so easily rattled when it looks like, god forbid, we might not smash the league.

We are akin to the likes of Coventry, Stoke, Blackburn etc. We could, with financial mismanagement, just as easily be a Bolton or a Derby.

Be thankful you’ve still got a football club to support and a chairman who consistently backs the club. We’re embarking on a new model, it’s probably not going to result in promotion any time soon unless we’re very lucky. You need to temper your expectations and appreciate that you’ve still got a club to support playing at a reasonable level. There’s a lot out there who haven’t.

Far more harmful outlook. We should be happy to plod along? We are a parochial football club who should be happy to exist? What sort of outlook is that? This club, both currently and also historically, can sustain itself in the top flight and that should very much be the aim.

Give it a rest. Burnley is not exactly Milan either.

Could it? Because while we were in the Premiership we were leaking money and we’ve struggled ever since being out of it.

And who says we’re plodding along? The Championship, although not the top league in England, is still a league full of quality and better than the vast majority of top-flights out there. We’re not plodding, we’re still playing a very decent level and usually, we do alright.

Why the **** are Luton Bournemouth Burnley wolves deserve to be in the Premier league and not us. We all go on about Gibson being this super chairman we've done nothing for last decade and a half going on now.

I've been going since the 60s. I know what this club is. What you say would be fine except for how the club positions itself, the messages that come out the club, the stated targets, the prices charged for tickets, for food, for kits etc etc.

I do agree that some fans are way to negative but my problem is, where had all this money gone??
13mil for Akpom
15mil for Spence
10mil for tav
Then we refuse to spend 5mil buying Giles. I agree with the current project however we still need to buy some quality on top of the young players. Surely Gibson can invest some of the money from recent sales?

😂 The entitled brigade at outing themselves here. Usual suspects too.

The truth isn’t easy to swallow, but you’ll be happier when you accept it 👍🏻

You think we leaked money in the Premier League but we 'do alright' in this league. I find that strange.

If we follow the 'happy to be here' approach you're talking about, the squad will deteriorate (again), the stadium will begin to empty (again), we will flirt with relegation (again) and eventually, it will happen and we will be like those clubs you mentioned above. Complacency and an acceptance of going backwards is not the solution.

A lot of it will be swallowed up in existing debt or running costs. I can’t remember the exact figure but the club loses a significant amount a month.

We have to be sustainable, especially with FFP.

Absolutely, which is why when Southgate was appointed we immediately started selling our higher earners and replacing them with younger ‘talents’.

Or… we could sign promising youngsters, build the core of a decent side and make a profit in the process. Which is what we’re trying to do.
