I see you've been given the temp role of replacing Newy in the graphics department while he's on the naughty step.
See I don't think we are inconsistent, in so much that I think we're very predictable for the opposition, as we're limited with what we can do going forward, and whether we can get the forwards the ball.... that means we will turn Stoke over this week!
At least we are now predictably inconsistent.
I am now able to manage my excitement/ expectations for every other game..... every one hold on!

I don't think it's so much about what we do, that part is a practical given (it's a sort of forced hand), it's more about how well the opposition prepare against us, to nullify what we can do, and if they do that we're in trouble. Every team due to face us will have watched all our last 10 games, in extreme detail with a list of exploits, and there are quite a few currently, due to our available options.
It is good like, fair playI'll be honest mate I just wanted an excuse to photoshop Carricks head on to a roller coaster.
I agree we're not inconsistent we are plain ***** at the moment and oh so predictable. carrick has been hampered by an average squad compounded by injuries. he needs to change it tactically starting with dieng returning and a more pragmatic approach to playing out from the back which gains us no advantage quite the opposite it costs us goals and points.See I don't think we are inconsistent, in so much that I think we're very predictable for the opposition, as we're limited with what we can do going forward, and whether we can get the forwards the ball.

I never knew Newy was on it . WhyI see you've been given the temp role of replacing Newy in the graphics department while he's on the naughty step.
Something to do with the meeting/ticket threads on here I believe, saw him tweeting about it the other day. What has he done to warrant the naughty step?
The problem is how do we change it tactically? We have to play out from the back, it's the best way and what the squad is geared up to do. It's not like we can play lump ball etc, it would be 5x worse, as we have zero targets to hold up the ball. This is what basically gives our game away, the opposition know we can't change and have no alternative.I agree we're not inconsistent we are plain ***** at the moment and oh so predictable. carrick has been hampered by an average squad compounded by injuries. he needs to change it tactically starting with dieng returning and a more pragmatic approach to playing out from the back which gains us no advantage quite the opposite it costs us goals and points.

Not the word I'd use but fair playpizazz
Playing it long we wont win many aerial battles but we could compete equally to win the subsequent 2nd ball. At the moment playing it out is giving them direct chances playing it longer and the danger is not so immediate. For me the big reason we cant play it out is losing Hackney who was extremely comfortable with the ball Barlaser and obrien just cant do it.The problem is how do we change it tactically? 100% agree on getting Dieng back in, and I think 100% of people on here agree on that too, which is a rarity. This is too obvious though, which is sort of leading me to wonder why he's not being picked. There has to be a reason which we don't know about surely?
The only thing I can sort of think we can do, is maybe play a bit deeper, all over the pitch, including up front, then see if we can find some gaps over the top into the channels etc. At least with Latte Lathe back he's rapid so could get some success there, and I don't think Forss is slow, is he? We can't play long balls though as we will win nothing in the air, but I suppose if we did lump it forward more and just try and pick up loose balls, rather than the initial header then that might work too.
I'm not going to be too critical until we have, Hackney, Lenihan and Jones back, and hopefully Latte Lathe fully fit by then also, but I expect a struggle until most are back.
I think Barlaser can, I think he's the best passer of the ball we have, especially the more difficult passes or at least he has the best vision for them. I think he's fine in possession too, when we have some options, but we seem very slow at creating triangles etc. A key flaw for me is we lose momentum when someone fluffs a 15 yard pass, either passing to their weaker side, the trouble side, or passing behind them. The players passing the ball should be enabling the next guy to make a first time pass, but we fail this so many times, so they end up having to roll it back, or we just lose all momentum we had.Playing it long we wont win many aerial battles but we could compete equally to win the subsequent 2nd ball. Barlaser is terrible at it. He can pick a great through ball and will give you 2 or 3 good balls in behind most games but he needs time. He's terrible against the press. Always plays the way he's facing. Doesn't travel with it to break lines when there's space. He racks up a load of touches and passes because he plays ball backwards and sideways. He can't/doesn't receive the ball in the midfield and look to turn. He just plays back again or sideways. He has to come so deep to receive the ball just so he can get turned and look forward. That then takes another man out the midfield and restricts the options forward.I think Barlaser can, I think he's the best passer of the ball we have, especially the more difficult passes or at least he has the best vision for them. I don't rate O'Brien at all, but willing to give him time.
