* The Original Unofficial "Official" Boro v Rotherham United Match-Day Thread *

I don't think we played too bad today I kinda think we want Rotherham to stay up much rather them than Reading. Coventry is the big game though its a playoff rehearsal

Congratulations to Rotherham
Ref was almost as bad for them as he was for us.
But on the whole they deserve to stay in this league.
Today we got what we deserved.
Nothing.
But it means very little in terms of our season.
A good run out to stay fit for the play offs is the only positive I can think of.

We've been treating the last few matches as a "pre-season" for the playoffs. I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not.

Play at 80 per cent(if even that!) against a team who are desperate for a result, and this is what happens. Overall, we didn't deserved a result today.
Not sure I agree. We didn’t play well first half, but neither side did. Then the ref ruined the game as a spectacle. We’d have steamrolled them second half with 10 men

So it'll be one of Coventry, Millwall, Sunderland and West Brom. Likely scenario in my head is: We beat Coventry, and Millwall beat Blackburn at home. Means we play Millwall over two legs. Hmmm.

No we don’t we need to prepare right if that means resting then we rest.

Coventry means nothing next week it’s all about the play offs.
I was all for Carrick rotating but whereas I think it's important to protect key players ahead of the playoffs, I also don't think it would be good for morale to go into the playoffs on the back of 3 straight defeats.

We were brutal, absolutely brutal.

Granted we are missing some big players - Fry, Forss, Giles, Howson, Ramsey, but that was pathetic, and has been for weeks now. Set pieces can be the difference between gaining a point, or nicking all three and we never even look close to scoring from them. I honestly cannot even be bothered getting interested when we do win a corner anymore. Dead rubbers or not, we should not being going into the playoffs on a run that we are currently on at the moment. Would you seriously want this current Boro side turning up away to Coventry, Millwall, West Brom or Sunderland playing like this? The tie would be over before we even get back to the Riverside. The fans who went all the way there deserve better than that dross served up. Okay, the refereeing was horrific, but even since the kick off we lacked sharpness and it seems clear they have been told to not go through the gears to avoid injuries. With a bit of luck we can turn the style on against Coventry and give the injured players a run out to get them ready for the playoffs. But I think people are kidding themselves if they aren't genuinely worried about what we have been watching.

We have to realise that we need to play at a high tempo for our ability to shine through, slow to nearly walking football versus teams that sit back and defend is eventually our undoing in games like these.

Oh, and I really don’t see the point in pumping balls into the box on corners and set pieces, we are not a tall team, we should either shoot from free kicks where feasible or play short and try to work openings, same with corners too, we need to play to our strengths not the oppositions.

Ramsey has been a huge miss for me, his link up play is key to our attack minded system and we need him back pronto.

We won't play them in the playoffs. My prediction. Never been wrong.
