* The Original Unofficial "Official" Boro v Burnley Match-Day Thread *

Even though they are a really good team I thought our performance was well below our usual standards. Didn’t have any belief that we could get anything from the game.

The remaining games are huge not just for points but going into the playoffs with a belief that we can win them.

Burnley will drop points against ShU likely proper finish our chance of 2nd, need to get our sparkle back pronto else we'll be limping into the POs. Did they seem jaded ? Sounded like it from the radio.
Our chances of 2nd are finished anyway, but no, Burnley will beat the Blades too. A single goal won't match what Burnley can put past them and Sheff Utd rarely have it in them to get more than that of late. Burnley will want to finish them off to rubber stamp their upcoming title.

Can someone explain to me why McNair playing instead of Fry, why Mgree is playing in the wrong position and Forss is not in the starting line up. Am I the only one who can see it??

Tonight was a tough game to have after last Saturday’s defeat. Still all to play for, love this time of the season. We should make the playoffs then who knows we could be Premier League next season, but if we aren’t I’m sure Carrick will have us challenging for automatic next year.

Good team Burnley, fair play to them. Bristol will be a tough test too. They've not lost at home this year have they? This is where we find out if these players have the bottle or not

Strange couple of games. Tonight more predictable than Huddersfield but quite a gulf in class between ourselves and Burnley. Players who have been absolutely dependable - Smith and Giles at full back having a little wobble at a time we can least afford it. Hackney who has had an amazing breakthrough season looking a little jaded and not as effective as he has been. Archer and Ramsey after bursting on to the scene are finding it a lot harder to have the same impact. Lots of people questioning McNair’s selection over Fry but clearly he is Carrick’s preferred starter. Akpom, Lenahan and Howson still provide a strong spine and we just have to get comfortable as fans with the building up from the back that frustrated quite a few tonight.
The games now come thick and fast and perhaps we will benefit from the squad we have built but Carrick hasn’t got too much wrong so far and we have to have complete faith he can get the job done. Onwards to Bristol

I've just watched Carrick being interviewed after the game and what a bloke he is. Many of our managers in the past would have thrown players under the bus but he praised their performance and only spoke highly of them.

After the interview, Sky mentioned Carrick had gone into the Burnley dressing room after their returned from celebrating and shook hands and congratulated every player.

Just watched the second goal and Howson just did nothing, we never seem to throw bodies at shots to block them ,teams always seem to have a clear strike at goal against us.
