The Migrant problem.

How have they done that?
Three countries have a safe route Afghanistan (1,000 people last year), Hong Kong (40,000) & Ukraine (64,000), if someone is in a UN refugee camp they can apply for resettlement in the UK (700) and if they already have family here (6,000).

Apart from that, there are no safe routes for people fleeing war & conflict in say Syria or Sudan, or facing persecution in their own country for their religion, sexuality, etc.

Can't we show them how to mend potholes instead? I joke.

Seems to me that people are being told that folks are coming in an getting a lot for nothing , whilst they themselves are struggling.

How much of this is true I don't know.

More likely to me is people are being shown something to be angry or jealous about. "I wouldn't mind a hotel stay for free - Id have a free holiday to Rwanda" etc , whilst being robbed blind by politicians on all sides.
This Rwanda scheme just screams of back handers and corruption all over. Where has all he money been sent already , wouldn't it be more cost effective to set up shelters on some of the islands dotted around the country

The countries in a mess. The last thing we need is more people.
Rubbish!

We need "more people" Like qualified Doctors, Consultants, Surgeons, Nurses, Specialist Healthcare Practitioners, Care Workers, Home Workers...........over 100,000 vacancies in the NHS unfilled, mostly due to BREXIT and the denial of freedom of movement. Coupled with deliberate underfunding and privatisation, qualified professionals have departed these shores in their thousands, to work in Europe, Canada and Australia, along with other countries around the world. All offering better working conditions and remuneration, recognising skills and valuing their staff. Yes we do need people. At least a 100,000 in the NHS to start with (y)

You could send Billions to help these people and I can honestly say they would never see a penny as the regimes in charge are that corrupt.

so then that would involve regime change in most of the countries these people are coming from. Are you suggesting we send in the armed forces?
Actually that's exactly what we are currently doing, either by propping them up, financing them or bombing them.

Well, yes. We need people with skills, not the opposite living off the system.

That's a myth and you know it.
Deliberate racist smear and totally unfounded.
People coming over here include Doctors, skilled professionals, businessmen and women, educated people with transferable skills.
Why do we have the most punitive social security system in Europe with worse support than modern countries like Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, The Netherlands, Portugal, etc? We have higher skills shortages than some Eastern European countries. We find money to subsidise private bankers and foreign wars. The real spongers are the tax dodgers and avoiders with £ billions laundered through the City of London.

I find these kind of threads very depressing. For 2 reasons really.

The first one is it reminds me of how foolish some folk are. You don't need a higher than average iq to educate yourself and now more than ever the resources are at your fingertips.

Secondly it reminds me of how divided we are as a species. Why would anyone care where someone was born, what colour their skin is and how they speak.

Walk around central Middlesbrough - whatever your political persuasion you can’t think that the area has been enriched and improved by immigration.
Just an observation.
Pretty much a no go area for me. Nothing of interest anymore in the town centre / linthorpe Road. For the match might go to Isaacs or in off the bar but that's rare and due to its close proximity to the train station

Nor has it been detrimental to it. If you're looking at reasons for town centres being run down try poverty followed by online shopping and business mismanagement on a grand scale.

It's not the migrants ruining the town centre pubs either, as we're all aware.
