The medal table - minimum requirements

We need to get a few golds from somewhere?
What's the state of play tomorrow, have we got some good gold medal chances?

The canoe could be two golds in that then they is the triathlon mixed relay have a chance but France be tough to beat should be silver though. Then they is Keely Hodgkinson in the 800m

Yep and we usually do well in the velodrome...should be a few golds there? As long as we finish above the Aussies I will be a happy chappy🙏😁

What next, do we allow top professional boxers to compete?
Professional boxers have been allowed to compete at the last 3 Olympics. However Manny Pacquiao was refused a place at Paris 2024 by the IOC when they declined his application to represent the Philippines because at 45 he was five years over the age threshold.

Of course you "won" the Olympics, with Russia banned and your athletes arriving at the opening ceremony via their own personal battlecruiser, you always were going to 😉

More to the point, their population is around 5 times the size of the UK? So logically with their talent pool to perform as well as we did this year, the USA need 70 Golds, 110 Silvers and 145 Bronzes? And this has been a poor year by GB "by our standards"...🤣

Need to do medal table like America do total we still 3rd best in world you can't win the golds all the time it's fine margins

Say we compared USA & Canada to Europe total Europe won

I think compared to relative size of the other countries on there, team GB did very well and I think got medals in some events they usually do not have much success? Conversely, the USA did the same thing and didn't medal in some events that they always do; its the way of the Olympics.

Citizens of GB and USA should both be quite proud and eager to see how LA 2028 goes. I intend to buy some tickets to events depending on my finances haha.

Poor showing from GB this year.
Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but it's a better medals total than Tokyo, equal to the medal haul in London in 2012 and our joint third highest total in history.

OK, we got fewer golds than the last few times but as an overall total it's still pretty good. Just remember that less than 30 years ago, we only got a total of 15 medals (1996) and for most of Olympic history, we considered we were doing well if we got more than 20.
