The Linthorpe Hotel

The Stockton redevelopment thread got me thinking about Pubs of yesteryear.

My fave Boro boozer was the Linny

I had some great times in there 79-83.

Full of Students, bikers, skins, punks and joeys but generally very peaceful.

When Kirby college and the Art college broke up for Christmas it was utter carnage BUT GREAT FUN.

The Linny was a hub for many of us, especially the RG punks and latterly Kirk regulars. My folks drank in the tap room for years. Lucky to have it as my local.

Remember the Bank holidays and it was mobbed and then on the afty close we all marched down to the Assembly rooms in the village , signed in and played snooker /drunk for a couple of hours and then back 😵‍💫

Started drinking in there at 16, around 1983. Drank that lager, Ayinbrau or something. Like rocket fuel to me at that age.
Used to play the table arcade game at first before progressing to the back room with the other long haired hippies.
Remember some biker types from Birkenhead coming in one weekend trying to sell cannabis etc. Must have been the first county lines drug gangs 😃

Terry the record LP bloke. Got loads of LPs off him. Amazed how he humped the pile of records up and down between the Empire, park hotel, Cleveland & linny, he wasn't a big fella.

Ayingebrau it was called, they've renamed it Taddy's now - still rocket fuel!! :ROFLMAO:

Never really went in the Linny tbh, one of the closest pubs as well. We usually went to the Trooper, Empire and Star and Garter aged 16/17 in late 80s/early 90s.

Started going in there in about 1974. It was the best pub in the world then, not so good now.
At one time Kirby Collage used to have live bands on and there were some epic nights.

I used to go on my breaks at Kirby College. I can’t remember how it’s spelled but they served this cheap German ale that used to send me back cross eyed.

When our theatre pub was closed for refurb back in the 90's, we used a place that served this as a back up. Absolute jungle juice!
