The King has cancer

The statement below was posted on the ITV web site prior to the announcement that the King has cancer and it is understood that the King was keen to share his diagnosis, in order to encourage other men who may be experiencing symptoms to get checked in line with health advice. If his announcement saves one life, then that can be only a good thing and not something for the usual posters to point score over.

I would also like to add that there are a few posters on this board who are dealing with cancer personally or are dealing with family members who have been diagnosed with cancer.

I understand that we are not all Royalists, but I would like to suggest you keep any crass comments to yourself as not to upset fellow board members who have enough to deal with.

Thank you.

Visits to the NHS website’s prostate enlargement page were up by more than 1000% after it was announced King Charles was suffering from the condition.

The health service's website page on the illness received more than 11 times as many visits on Wednesday, when the royal news was revealed, compared to Tuesday.

There were 16,410 visits to the page on Wednesday – an average of one visit every five seconds compared to 1,414 visits on Tuesday, NHS England told ITV News.

While King Charles does not have prostate cancer, news of his diagnosis has also prompted thousands of men to check their symptoms as well.

On Wednesday, Prostate Cancer UK's online risk checker was up by over 97% - increasing from in the same time last week 3,280 to 6,478 in the last 24 hours.

It is understood Charles, 75, was keen to share his diagnosis, in order to encourage other men who may be experiencing symptoms to get checked in line with health advice.

Always one.

I'm a long way from being a Royalist but he is a human being and this vile disease is a great leveller. I wish him well in his recovery as I do for anyone and everyone afflicted by this chunt of an affliction.
He’s no different to any other human being. It’s sad for him and his family. My dad has had a year from hell with cancer. That is sad for me and my family.

My dad’s got prostate cancer, diagnosed in 2022. He had it previously but got the all clear.

He missed a checkup appointment in 2020/2021 because of Covid and when he finally got seen to again they told him it came back.

Wouldn’t wish it on anyone and certainly wouldn’t make fun of it.

Not a Royalist at all, but hope he makes a full recovery👍
As above, wouldn't wish any form of disease on anyone.

The royal machine don’t miss any opportunity for PR do they to justify their ‘role’. Good luck to him in his battle though as a fellow human

There are really some vile individuals on here at times.

Anyone, regardless of even if haven’t directly or had a loved one suffer with this horrific thing, should still wish this fellow human being, father, grandfather and husband well or keep their sinister opinions to themselves.

It's been well documented in the past that when public figures mention having an illness (not just Royals, not just cancer) that searches on the Internet, appointments for checks etc, rise and I personally can't see why that's a bad thing

I’ve got a loved one currently waiting for treatment. He’s been treated straight away.

Them and us. Don’t understand it.
