The greatest rock band voice

Apologies if any of these have been posted, but surely Dan McCafferty and early Rod Stewart should get a mention.
Was impressed seeing Smokie mentioned- Chris Norman had a great voice.

"Here Comes The Flood" was one of the selections on Desert Island Discs this week. That reminded me what a great singer he has been, and set me a bit of Gabriel reminiscence week.
Definitely a great singer and a great song writer too but I don't think he particularly has a "rock" voice.

Posted this before (and may well do so again) Peter Gabriel Solsbury Hill through the years...

I'm sure I saw him on a few of those tours. He always surprises live.

Depends what you mean by rock. His versatility of voice is such that he can sing Solisbury Hill as a ballad but then some of the stuff with early Genesis is very much rock. The song Back in New York City from LLDOB for example. Or the end drama of Musical Box.

Great choices - I'd append Roger Daltrey and Mick Jagger to the list, which I suspect would never be complete without Freddie Mercury, so I'll get that over with now and add Paul Rodgers
Surprised I had to get to more than 6 posts before the greatest of all got a mention.
Paul Rodgers - hes one of our own

Chris Cornell had an immense voice IMHO and a great range. Really like Eddie Vedders voice too and Robert Plant, David Lee Roth and Myles Kennedy deserve a mention too.

You're right though tons to choose from, it's a tough question.
Chris Cornell was unreal, much preferred Audioslave over Soundgarden though.

Eddie Vedder singing Black live, or the live acoustic version is incredible.

So many greats already mentioned but my favourite that not many in the UK would know, Jimmy Barnes ( Cold Chisel )
Just one of many ( Aussie :D ) legends that migrated to Oz from the UK.
The late fifties and early sixties saw many expats arrive here where they reached stardom here and worldwide.
Stevie Wright The Easybeats ( friday on my mind )
AC / DC...Bee Gees.. Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs...Colin Hay ( Men at Work ) Little River Band, so, so many
and of course Olivia Newton John and Johnny Farnham.
The Aussie music scene owes so much to us Poms. (y)

Difficult to look beyond Robert Plant but for a more contemporary choice I’ll put forward Zack de la Rocha.
Hugely biased as I love RATM but hey ho…
