Yanks have said it wasn't sunk. So make of that what you will.

even if it hasn't sunk (and the reports now sound like it has), the russians claimed all the sailors abandoned ship. If there was a fire raging on a vessel that size and you abandon it, no one can contain it. The ship would be gutted and be nothing but a shell. It would take 2 years to refit something of that size and make it sea worthy. It's out of action for the rest of this conflict sunk or not

They reported an accidental fire on board. It's now apparently sunk in rough weather. It's definitely been struck by a missile.

To say they have no casualties is clearly not true.

I can safely say after 23 years in the Royal Navy that if its been hit and sunk it's had a massive loss of life. Especially as a magazine (ammunition store) blew up.

RIP Sailors 🙏⚓

You are totally correct. the majority of the crew will have been lost, Naval war is brutal, There is know where to hide. When a ship sinks. The crew goes down with the ship. Thank you Putin.

Reading reports now that the Russians skuttled the ship themselves. Bizarre.

Russian state media now reporting the sinking of the Moskva after an "accidental fire" and then "stormy weather" pretty unlucky that happening while there was a war going on...

The deployment of a "new" Ukrainian missile sounds a little suspicious to me, only a few days ago they were asking NATO for anti ship missiles then we get this. I suspect this is a cover to disguise whichever western weapon has been deployed.

As stated above there will have been considerable loss of life on the ship and they are on Putin's tally too.

Seems a bit of a coincidence that one of Russia’s top ships, launched in 1979, suddenly catches fire in the middle of a war?
Yeah imagine the bad luck to a) last 43 years without an accidental fire, b) the fire be out of control before any fire safety systems could suppress it, c) the fire rage into ammunition stores which were not protected from fires, d) it happen in the middle of active service when 99% of it's life has been non-active and no accidental fires, and e) during heavy storms that were strong enough to sink a boat that definitely hadn't been damaged by missiles.

I mean if the Russian version were true (SPOILER: it isn't), then their Navy is the Keystone Cops of Navies.

Key for me was the other Russian ships in the area have moved away from shore.. Ukrainian version seems right me.
So I guess this has effectively destroyed the Russian Naval involvement in the war. Kind of like how the Belgrano sinking sent the Argentinian navy out of the war. It's a massive win for Ukraine

From the range and damage done some "experts" are postulating that it was a British supplied Harpoon missile (or two of them) that hit the Moskva.

Having watched the supposed video of the attack on the ship the explosion looked massive, I don't think many would have survived it
