'The escalating delinquency of Boris Johnson and his gang of blue anarchists'

Blair was largely a very successful and popular PM until the Iraq war. If he hadn't have gone in and left after 2 terms, he would have been deemed one of our greatest PMs. Not saying he didn't make any mistakes. He did, but was largely successful. Johnson however has been shambolic from start to finish, no comparison.
Look at my full original rant for context on the ‘Blair might have been bad part‘ I agree with you. I only requoted the control freakery and shambolic debt we‘re bequeathing our kids part.

His debt wasn't out of control until relatively close to the financial failure, first two terms were not bad at all, and our GDP was record numbers of consecutive growth periods. There were of course mistakes, the gamble on sale of gold reserves and the method of funding NHS investment. But by and large they made a decent success of the economy, unlike the shower of crap the tories have done before Blair and since. I would absolutely take a Blair government to get us through this crisis over a Johnson one, without even a seconds consideration.

Oddly enough, use any metric you like and over my lifetime any labour government has been demonstrably better than any tory government that came just before or just after. It's a demonstrable fact. The tories are not nor ever have been good with the economy.

Again I completely agree with you, the debt I refer to is that which this Johnston government is going to leave future generations.

What you have said there is virtually identical to what my dad said to me 45 years ago.

Front page headline of the year. in my humble opinion.

unless of course, YOU know better?
Don't you believe it, I live in Whitby and the amount of people that think Johnson and his circus are doing a good job is unbelievable, I argued with a couple of blokes the other day and actually said if Corbyn had been in power there would be piles of bodies in the streets and he meant it !

This lot are going to leave us with the greatest national debt in history, no economy to service it and a generation to try to cope with it.
Richard Murphy on how National Debt actually works....or doesn’t

Which just goes to show that the government KNOW that UK debt and household debt are different. They just pretend they're the same so they can keep siphoning off the money they create whilst keeping everyone worried enough about their next paycheck to not kick up a fuss.

The Tories are nothing if not successful at what they do.

They have completely conned a significant proportion of the electorate that they are acting in their interests, whilst simultaneously doing the exact opposite. Post-truth politics at its best. They also seem to be mastering the "just enough" school of policy intervention - i.e a few crumbs to keep the votes coming in without ever addressing the "is this enough" or "even more" schools of thought.

My real concern is that they're actually shifting political discourse (sorry "MarComms") so far that it could lead to an irreversible shift in the way politics is "done" - which has an impact on society, the economy and ultimately rights and freedoms.

There will be a correction at some point Changingman, that is inevitable. Corruption can only last for so long. I hope it's in my lifetime.

Nurses striking would be a start. They will get way more sympathy than miners, for example. Yes the government will just u-turn, but it really is down to the people to stop listening to rubbish and vote the b***ds out.

They most certainly are, and being implemented rapidly. Some of it using the COVID-19 act...
Another interesting development facial recognition data has been collected, and is in use now!
Of course if you have nothing to hide.....

The most depressing thing for me is that this government's approval ratings are increasing, despite the corruption, despite the lies, despite the cronyism and despite the ineptitude.

As Churchill said, ironically enough; “The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.”

This headline might be a contender

MEET The FOURTEEN Labour Politicians Arrested, Imprisoned, Or Under Investigation In The Past Six Months

OVER a dozen Labour Politicians including MPs and Mayors have been arrested for serious crimes, while investigations continue into a string of other party officials and campaigners. Sir Keir Starmer is yet to comment on any of them – yet here, VoteWatch exclusively reveals a socialist rogue’s gallery, and what is becoming an ever-growing scandal.

People who are not politically engaged or haven't lost anyone in the last year will see how far ahead of the vaccination curve we are and appreciate that. They can see a way out of this and that has improved his ratings.

It won't last, brexit will bite even harder once we get out of the crossover period, jobs will be lost, if we dump the NI protocol the USA won't touch us with a barge pole. The very people who gave Johnson his massive majority will, unfortunately pay the price.

His stock will drop and drop massively.

I despair Jonny, it is fcking scary it does not seem to matter anymore, what they do or the lies they come out with, none of it seem to be accountable, I have no idea what the answer is, I just think society is too selfish, i.e. I am doing alright so screw the rest of society
