The end?

Well, my lad has been on the happy train today. I hope he is right about the momentousness of today (and probably tomorrow).

"There will be no big update on the frontlines.
This was not a day for military musing, this was a day for political decisions and how they form the future of Humanity.
In all honesty, today and tomorrow will be the days that is every bit as momentous as the Yalta Conference and other turning points in history.

So much happened today that some huge stuff might easily be missed.
And it was also a day of intense behind the scenes pressuring, and on the scene pressuring for that matter.
It kicked off in the last two days at the World Economic Forum...

WEF 2023 Screamathon
Germanys chancellor, Senor Flipflop, was cornered by the leaders of Poland, The Nordics and The Baltics.
The topic was Leopard IIs.
It rapidly became extremely loud with people screaming straight into the face of Flipflop.
He was in no uncertain terms told that where he could shove his Crocs, and that Leopards will be delivered regardless of his antics.
In the end he was stammering and looked like he would start crying.

Flipflop has also been a disaster for German weapons industry.
Germany has no firm newbuild orders at this point, only a few refurbishments.
Even the stunning IRIS-T orders have been cancelled.
Senor Flipflop is currently not popular among the arms companies at home.
After all the likes of Raytheon, General Dynamics, BAE, SAAB, Husqvarna, Patria... and so forth... are having order books filled until at least 2030. And that includes the new factories being built.
So, he is getting told off by Krauss-Maffei, Rheinmetal, etcetera...

Another getting told what to do was the President of Serbia.
He was hauled physically into a separate room by Stoltenberg, Wallace, Bildt and a couple of others.
He walked into the room a friend of Russia, and walked out much more pale and gathered up a bunch of journalists.
In it he declared that Russia was wrong to attack Ukraine, and that it was Ukraines UN Borders that was it, and that Russia should go home.
For good measure he repeated it today going all in and promising humanitarian aid for Ukraine, and gear and technicians to aid with rebuilding the energy infrastructure.
This is from a man who intended to go to war a week ago.
There are two spins on this, and I think both are true.
The first one is that he realised that the promised help from Russia would not happen in any form.
The second one is that I think he was told to play nice and toe the line, or get bombed to heaven comes.
The bombing is legal, there is a UN Mandate for NATO to bomb the snot out of Serbia if they start a war, any war.
But, I am certain there was a nice carrot in it.
Behave and you get a place at the table, one time offer, never to be repeated.
He chose well.

Weapons
Oh my... I knew things was gonna happen, but this was beyond even my fevered dreams when sleeping.
It started a week ago with France kicking the ball.
England answered bigger.
US answered, other countries followed.
And then came today.
Holy mackerell... Sweden started the day with the initial massive package.
Others followed with promises.
Sweden pointed out that the first delivery train is rumbling through Denmark already.
Denmark then jumped up and screamed "We are sending all of our future tech artillery" to not be beaten by Sweden.
The Baltic states pledged 1 percent of their GDP in weapons for Ukraine.
Others came in with weapons.
And then Sweden calmly announced that tomorrow there will be a Second Blooming Giant Package.
Putting weight to that Zelenskyy popped up and confirmed that Sweden has now pledged Leopard IIs for rapid delivery.

One thing is though for sure.
Nobody will give a **** about Senor Flipflop.
Several owners of the tanks are breaking the contracts with Germany tomorrow, and there is nothing Germany can do about it... due to... Sweden.
We are annoying, but we also have the tooling to produce Leopard IIs. This means that we can deliver the spare parts, we already make them for our own tanks.
What you say? Leopards are built by Germany. Not entirely, we produced our own, with our own tooling, but on German drawings that we modified and improved.
This is important.

Why will the Germans not argue?
Well, on the 27th of February 2014 the Swedish Army attacked the German owned submarine yard of Kockums Thyssen-Krupp and seized everything. In the end Thyssen-Krupp was crushed by the Wallenbergs, and SAAB took over the dockyards.
And there was not a thing that Germany could do about it, because it was legal according to Swedish laws, and basically because we said feck off.

Germany remember this, and they know we do not give a **** in the end if we **** them off, we already have all the weapons industries we will ever need, and then some.
So, we just include Poland, Finland and a few others under our service contracts, and BAE Hägglund Vehicles and SAAB Dynamics Bofors are just happily going along with it.

Senor Flipflop forgot about there being two who can set the Leopards Free, one is nice, the other is the Feck Off type.
We will see tomorrow whom will do it.

To try to solve the problem our King called today The President of Germany, and President Biden. The topic was tanks, more tanks, and even more tanks.
The Northeast and the UK has had it with their dillydalling.
We just want Russia to be crushed ones and for all, so that we can go back to being: Annoying happy fat Swedes, and the others mentioned agree on this.
Both about us being annoying and that it is time to squeeze the Putinpimple.

The US
Biden is by no means stupid, and unlike Senor Flipflop he is a great friend of Ukraine.
So, I am fairly certain he will come around tomorrow in some way. How we will get to know tomorrow.
And those Abramsees sitting at the border are looking rather suspiciously like Abramsees... if you catch my drift.
To be honest he seems by far more happy with giving away Abrams tanks than giving out longer range missiles.

And here it dawned on me that I have never stated why he is not sending ATACMS and other long range stuff.
ATACMS and long range US cruise missiles are shart expensive for one, then there is the problem that there are not enough of them. Thirdly and perhaps most importantly in regards of ATACMS, they are ballistic high-trajectory missiles.
There is a sombering risk that some trigger happy doofus on the Russian side would think it is a ballistic nuclear missile.

The solution was the GBSDB.
First of all, it is far cheaper. It is not ballistic, it is a cruise missile smart bomb.
And most of all, it is sort of made in the US.
Well, at least it is stamped SAAB - BOEING.
SAAB developed it, build them, but the bomb part was developed by Boeing and it is Himars compatible.
So, at least American enough to not cause a fuss in the US.
And for some reason we rather annoying Swedes honestly do not understand, Americans seem to like us...
At least enough to get away with a piece of the arms production pie, and that has been going on longterm.
Lots of Swedish stuff in the US Army already.

Anyway, tanks is a much easier deal to swallow for Biden.

The Trial of the Century
The European Union has voted to trial Putin and all other Russian War Criminals.
33 abstained votes, 19 against... this is the highest vote number in the EU Parliament to date.

This almost completely blew past all the weapons, but I think this is far more important.
Today all hope died in Russia of getting away with what they have done.
They will either be hauled in, voluntary participate, or be tried in absentia (for later extraction).
I think of all things today, this was what rocked Russia the most.

Russian Headache
Today it became amply clear that the world is gonna go through with beating the proboscis out of Russia.
All hope of a military victory due to the West turning their backs on Ukraine is now gone. It was the all in moment.

It was also the moment the elite (and a lot of officers and soldiers), realised that they will spend the rest of their lives behind bars.
They now know that they will never get away, there is no corner on the planet to flee to that any human would ever want to live in.

Our Intrepid Colonel
I got an email with a picture as a thank you, and later a call from a landline phone behind the front.
Let us just say that it was an emotional call of gratitude.
She is finally getting the gear she was promised, and was trained on using.

She promised me a cobblestone from X.
I can't tell where X is until X is taken.
I also got quite emotional, I do not handle gratitude well, so I misted up in the eye department.

Belarus
With a Lavrov staring at him like a very angry Horseface with steely eyes Uncle Luka mumbled out eternal friendship to Russia, said he was surprised that Ukraine had not attacked them and thanked Ukraine for that...
It was interpreted as him saying "Nope, we will not be a direct part in the war, but we can't stop you from attacking from Belarus", then he talked about peace and his role in it.
It was unclear to the extreme.
It was a masterclass of political bullet dodging.

Conclusion
This was one of those freak wave days where the world shifts.
Today quarrelsome bumbly confusing Democracy came together and hauled ****.
The world got justice today, and it got decades of stability in the future.
This is perhaps even more important than the upcoming end of the war.

I see the sun starting to break through the Fog of War."

This is all good news, but there is a danger. These Russians at the top know they are going to tried as war criminals. If they don't do a secret bunk, they could do some desperate things. I don't think nuclear, but more atrocities are possible. When the Nazi's knew they were not just losing the war but it was unconditional surrender and they would be held to account they didn't ease off, they defended harder and stepped up the genocide program in the camps. I worry about the many thousand of Ukrainians who were kidnapped and to any who voice opposition. These people are not averse to poisoning people in foreign countries either.

Yep. Cornered animals and all that. Legit worry for sure. Although I think the West have held a carrot for those that engineer surrender and the arrest of those wanted. They certainly did that when Lavrov went to Indonesia for G9.

What happens to Putin's 2.0 & 2.1?

I think they'll be in use for a while yet. I am not as convinced as matey boy seems to be, but he's not up and about yet. And he doesn't function until gallon of coffee number 2. We have a meeting later today though.

still find it all a bit mental to be honest dead or a live body doubles etc you could not make it up :)

Ha, indeed not. I now understand that there are multiple pointers towards an ex-Putin situation, various sources making similar noises. The most pertinent being the Ukrainians now being convinced behind the scenes (bear in mind Kuleba met Peskov in secret earlier this week).

I’ll certainly be the first to eat humble pie if the Putin poison story turns out to be true!

It would be a fitting end to an evil man and I would hope there would be a sense of justice for Marina Litvinenko, the surviving Novichok victims and all the others with poisoned and murdered family members.

There's no way he's dead!

I'll be (gladly) joining the humble pie gang if true.

Dead or not, classic propaganda from the West and Ukraine.
Expect the rumours to perpetuate.
Spread rumours to destabilise the populace and demoralise the troops.

"If the man responsible for putting us in the battlefield is dead what's the point in putting ourselves at risk?"

Well, that might be true if the west was propogating the story, but they aren't. And Zelensky was equivocal (ie. not sure). The poison story hasn't been broadcast anywhere AFAIK (it came candidly from Naryshkin in back channels). I should add that I'm still in the "we'll see" camp, until Swan Lake plays or the Great Leader's passing is announced in Russia. Which, even if he has perished, may be some way off.
