Can't say much about Tank Girl stuff at the moment.... but you can be thinking further North than where they are in Kursk on the maps.

Anyway, regarding Russian/Chines naval exercises.... normal run of the mill stuff. Been doing it pretty much every year for years. Projection message towards the USA. Who aren't that worried.
Meanwhile, reality on the front in the Povrosk area. This fella was, by all accounts, one of Russia's best surveillance drone operators. Certainly an intelligent and articulate bloke .... now dead.

A German Maj General providing a pretty concise explanation of the reasons for Kursk and clearly explaining the rationale for longer range missiles to kill the archer not the arrow.

So Freuding is a much respected "colleague" and friend of our man. Freuding is actually risking his job with these interviews he is doing now. Scholz won't appreciate it one bit.
But he is a military man, and he knows that if Ukraine lose.... He'll have to go to war anyway.
One of only a handful of Generals to have achieved a "pass" grade in a much vaunted General "school".
He has actually been in occupied Russian territories this week. Making him the first German general in occupied Russia since WW2 (Guderian).
Anyway, if he gets fired, he has a new job waiting for him immediately :)

Am pleased to hear that. I did wonder if he knew your mate, as back in August I found a video of him pretty soon after AFU broke through the border giving the most detailed analysis of the Kursk situation outside of what Gen Sneaky lets you know.
If he was to get pushed out it strikes me he reports directly into the Defence Minister so it would be another Scholz personal decision which may be a tipping point.
Jessica Berlin published a piece after Scholz's latest not sending Taurus outburst where he said we wont send them to UKR. Basically who is WE? The Green Foreign minister want them to go, the CDU opposition wants them to go, His own party Defence minister wants them to go, its YOU.
I should learn to bookmark.

As my mate said when they announced that Ukraine were free to use long range weapons in Russia "I'll believe it when I see it".
Edit: he says .... "be patient. there is a plan". It's just the Muricans (for erection year purposes) want to make a big choreographed hoo ha about it.... as well as informing the Kremlin exactly what the rules are, to avoid "accidents".
Anyway, just saw this... which is blackly amusing.

It's easy done to be fair, the US Patriots shot down a UK Tornado from my squadron in 2003 on the Iraq/ Kuwait border. It was an automated system then mind and the auto system thought there was a scud flying alongside our other Tornado, when they were flying as a pair. :oops:
All it take is an IFF dump, which can easily happen overnight when switching from one days code to the next days code at midnight, or just through general failures which happen all the time on systems which don't have a great deal of redundancy (defensive and comms systems don't have much redundancy like how flight controls and hydraulics do etc, esp not on older aircraft). It's even more likely if the transponder is off, which the pilots sometimes turn off to avoid detection from enemies, or because they don't like the often false alarm sound lighting up their headset.
Shouldn't happen so often internally though, in your own country, unless your own country is riddled with enemy aircraft also.
