The curious case of the missing LB

Coulden looks ok at home when opposition dont really attack on his side alot. Its when going gets tough away that i have my doubts about him positionally and defensively. Not to mention his reliability to stay fit.

First game for Boro in a couple of years for Coulson and he did OK, give the lad a chance please...
Thanks 👍
The fact it’s his first game in however long is exactly the point. This clearly wasn’t the plan. As said above, I’d love it if he went on to be a mainstay in the side, but it would have been by accident rather than design.

Wondering whether there was truth in the Giles transfer story - he agreed the deal, then changed his mind when Luton offered more. Missed alternative LB targets pursuing him and are now left short.🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

If this is true, then it's unbelievably frustrating. There's no loyalty in football, and to think he (apparently) turned his back on us and left us in a hole after all the fun he claims to have had at Boro last season... that really hurts.

Hopefully it means we’re going to be patient and try and bring in someone who can make a difference there, rather than going for a bang average championship clogger.

I’m as gutted as anyone that Giles didn’t sign. £5m for his attacking output is a bargain.

The Coulson situation is really strange you'd have to admit. Two full seasons on loan at Ipswich, Peterborough and Aberdeen without impressing at any of them. Then gets his contract extended and ends up as the club's first choice (and only) left back.

It's bizarre!
Utterly mental

I can't fault Coulson for his effort, gives 100% every time, other than that I'm not really a fan, his positional sense is terrible, leaves so much space, not just a little bit but like 20 yards from the attacking player, Millwall exploited this at time's and I think better team's will even more so.
Never going to be a good defender in my opinion.

I think this was a tactical decision. We were trying to force play down the right hand side, particularly first half. As a result, Coulson was effectively playing an inverted full wing back role.
